U.S. Coast Guard Systems Administrator and Staff Assistant, GS-0301-09 in Boston, Massachusetts

Summary This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, First Coast Guard District, Response Division, Boston, MA. Responsibilities This role is in the Response Division, in one of the Coast Guard Bases. The incumbent serves as the regional timekeeper and administrator of the Coast Guard’s timekeeping information system, WebTA, serves as the regional administrator of the Coast Guard’s human resource information system, FedHR, and serves as a Staff Assistant and provider of general clerical support. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: * Serving as the regional point of contact and subject matter expert for the administration of Coast Guard human resource information systems, specifically FedHR and WebTA, across the First District. * Serving as the regional point of contact and subject matter expert for time keeping matters. * Performing a variety of administrative and support type duties in such areas as office administration, personnel security, travel, training, records management, timekeeping, forms control, personal property, and purchasing. * Coordinating general clerical and administrative support for the Response Division, promoting administrative and clerical efficiency. Requirements Conditions of Employment U.S. Citizenship is required. The position requires a valid state driver's license. Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service. A one-year probationary period may be required. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. This includes Time-In-Grade requirements for current status employees applying through merit promotion procedures. Status applicants applying for a promotion must have 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade. Qualifications To qualify for the GS-9 level: Applicants must have One (1) year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-7 in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience may include: providing advice, guidance, information, and direction in administrative and clerical policies, procedures, functions, processes, and guidelines to support the staff; communicating with senior/higher-leveled military/civilian personnel; monitoring the status of projects, reports, correspondence, appointments, managing/coordinating travel; serving as office timekeeper; maintaining incoming and outgoing mail and greeting and escorting office visitors. OR A master's or equivalent graduate degree; Two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; (or an LL.B. or J.D., if related. OR A Combination of successfully completed graduate level education and specialized experience as described above. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
