Job Title: Substation Project Manager

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Substation Project Manager to manage multiple large complex engineering substation projects up to 500kV concurrently from early concept development through detailed design and construction. This role involves coordinating design and construction activities of new substations and upgrades to existing substations, following industry standards and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple large complex substation projects up to 500kV concurrently

• Coordinate design and construction activities of new and existing substations

• Supervise and procure equipment, materials, and services for substation projects

• Serve as a mentor and leader of project teams

• Perform technical problem solving

• Lead and manage multi-discipline teams

• Provide guidance and review at the project level ensuring adherence to discipline and quality standards

• Lead proposal teams and develop project approaches that lead to project wins

• Apply experience and innovation to solve highly complex problems

• Work effectively with lead practitioners, quality managers, and key technical specialists

• Prepare and monitor project budgets and schedules

• Assist in negotiation of contracts and expansion of service offerings with existing clients

• Hold progress meetings on a weekly or bi-weekly basis

• Direct substation design teams including civil, geo tech, and structural disciplines

• Manage project financials, including budgets ranging from $50K to $4 million

• Take on multiple projects, potentially managing a portfolio of 20-30 projects or larger projects up to $10 million

Essential Skills

• 10+ years of Substation Project Management experience

• Experience in project management, construction, electrical, and right of way

• Professional certifications such as PMP or PE

• Engineering background

• Experience in financial reporting and budget management

• Familiarity with the utility industry

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Background in substation projects

• Experience in right of way and transmission

• Ability to manage project financials effectively

Work Environment

This role offers a hybrid work schedule, requiring commuting to the local office 2-3 days a week. Work locations include Albany, Hartford, Boston, Pittsburgh, Brick NJ, Edison NJ, Wadsworth OH, and Columbus OH. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $125000.00 - $165000.00
