Boston Public Schools STIPEND OPPORTUNITY: Early College Multilingual Learning Coordinator (SY24-25) in Boston, Massachusetts

* This position is a stipended position and is only open to current employees whose current job status allows them to participate in these opportunities.* This is a full school year position from September 30, 2024 - May 30, 2025. About 80% of the work can be completed virtually and 20% will require in-person meetings and training. The stipend will be paid out in-full when all services are completed. POSITION OVERVIEW: The position will reside in the Office of Secondary Schools in the Boston Public Schools, reporting to the Director of Early College. The Multilingual Learning Coordinator works between Roxbury Community College (RCC), BPS’s Office of Secondary Schools, Office of Multicultural and Multilingual Education (OMME), and participating pilot schools to ensure multilingual learners receive high-quality early college programming and instruction aimed at accelerating English language acquisition and entry into additional college-level coursework no matter their current ELD level. The Multilingual Learning Coordinator is responsible for fostering deep collaboration with the Roxbury Community College faculty and staff and BPS central offices to design, implement, and evaluate a strategic sequence of early college courses and professional development plan. RESPONSIBILITIES: Collaborate with RCC faculty and program leadership to align early college curriculum, pathway development, and instructional pedagogy in service of multilingual learners Develop and align course materials that incorporate K-12 Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and WIDA 2020 Language Development Standards Framework for multilingual education Codify early college co-teaching framework with RCC faculty and BPS ESL educators Record best practices and recommendations for future programming to expand access for college course taking for multilingual learners Meet monthly with the Office of Secondary Schools and early college liaisons to share feedback and strategies for improving the student experience Refine early college visit protocols and practices including the early college ELD Look For Tool https://docs.google.com/document/d/13DFAf2mu-4BOqVBLGHubjDtlsfrkfniry7dnEVSZhuE/edit?usp=sharing Analyze college course-taking data to identify trends, strengths, and areas needing support Use this data to make informed, data-driven decisions tailored to the unique needs of multilingual learners, ensuring equitable and effective educational strategies that address language barriers and enhance learning outcomes Coordinate with collaborators on any DESE, AIR, and/or Boston University research and reporting requirements Design and implement professional learning opportunities for RCC and BPS educators, administrators, and staff throughout the school year Create a model syllabus for all early college courses for multilingual learners Monitor early college courses for MLs in order to improve programs throughout the district Meet monthly with the Office of Multilingual and Multicultural Education to align strategic efforts to expand access to and success in college courestaking for multilingual learners Anticipated Schedule September 30, 2024 - May 30, 2025 Anticipated average of 5 hours per week About 80% of the work can be completed virtually and 20% will require in-person meetings and training. Qualifications Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop partnerships and strategic relationships with a wide range of diverse constituents, communities and stakeholders. Extremely strong organizational and time management skills Ability to use Canva, Microsoft Suite Tools, Google Suite Tools, Zoom, and Calendly efficiently Stellar judgment, high-level project management, organizational skills and excellent problem-solving capabilities.
