Job Description

Job Duties:

Evolve and improve platform services to provide performance enhancements through automation taking into consideration reliability, usage and delivery of new functionalities during deployment and integration of platform architectures. Duties include:

  • Collaborate with software engineers, platform engineers, product owners and engineering leadership to uncover pain points and opportunities to accelerate delivery of new value through software and platform management;

  • Support insurance claim applications and manage CRM tool using knowledge of insurance business claims process;

  • Set strategic rollout, selection and delivery of proven and emerging tooling to ensure data pipelines are scalable, repeatable and secure for multiple users within organization;

  • Translate complex functional and technical requirements into detailed designs and high performing capabilities;

  • Leverage open technologies to design and build batch, real-time streaming and complex event handling data patterns and services;

  • Automate development and deployment tasks to ensure timely delivery to meet project timelines;

  • Manage process improvements including operational risks and changes;

  • Recommend future expansion and contingency plans taking into consideration effectiveness, efficiency, and security;

  • Utilize knowledge of data platforms (Synapse, Databricks) to create and manage data pipelines;

  • Manage data platform hardening per company standards;

  • Resolve platform issues discovered by technical support teams;

  • Investigate new platform solutions to enhance service delivery experience;

  • Ensure data management processes conform to standard operating procedures and enterprise technology standards and policies; and provide guidance regarding data quality, metadata management, data stewardship, security and access controls;

  • Develop effective disaster recovery plans that meet specified requirements to ensure appropriate monitoring and alert mechanisms are in place;

  • Implement and maintain effective security procedures and implementations across cluster users and groups;

  • Collaborate with internal teams to evaluate proofs of concepts for new data technologies and capabilities; and

  • Maintain knowledge of industry advancements through collaborating with external vendors, Cloud Native Computing Foundation, Apache Foundation, and other OSS projects.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Mechanical Engineering or related field and 5 years of experience in big data/data management.

Experience must include:

  • 5 years of experience with Insurance Business Applications for Client Servicing including Claims and Call Centers using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) , Business Rules Engine and Business Process Management tools;

  • 5 years of platform administration experience;

  • 5 years of experience using data and data technologies to support software development, advanced analytics, and reporting;

  • 5 years of systems experience including administration, security, patching, and configuration;

  • 5 years of scripting experience using Bash and PowerShell;

  • 5 years of experience with RDBMS database configuration and administration;

  • 5 years of experience with basic TCP/IP protocols and tools;

  • 5 years of experience with big data infrastructure and tooling;

  • 5 years of experience with basic REST and RPC protocols;

  • 5 years of cloud engineering experience;

  • 1 year of experience with Java, C or Python programming languages.

Salary & Benefits

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

Primary Location

USA, Massachusetts, Boston, 200 Berkeley Street

Salary range is expected to be between

$102,200.00 USD - $189,800.00 USD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
