About the Role

Boston University Admissions seeks a Senior Assistant Director for Transfer Affairs. The person in this position is expected to participate in the efforts of our office to build a strong and diverse applicant pool and commit to principles of antiracism, diversity, equity and inclusion in the college search and application process. This role manages the transfer selection process and assists in the management of the transfer recruitment process for the Admissions office. This includes working closely with the Senior Associate Director for Selection to manage the operational aspects of the transfer selection process, and works closely with the Senior Associate Director for Recruitment and the Recruitment Team to recommend changes and enhancements to the recruitment plan for transfer students. Evening and weekend work is expected during the busiest parts of the reading and recruitment cycles. The person in this position will be expected to manage a regional territory and travel for approximately 5-7 weeks during the year.

The Senior Assistant Director for Transfer Affairs works closely with staff throughout BU Admissions, including the recruitment and marketing teams. They also partner with staff in other departments of the Enrollment & Administration Unit, including the Office of the University Registrar and Enrollment Services Operations, on a variety of shared priorities. Finally, this role manages a regional recruitment territory where they work with school personnel, families, prospective students, and other constituent groups.

The Senior Assistant Director for Transfer Affairs’ primary duties include:

  • Reviewing candidates for transfer admission and managing the transfer committee selection process from an applicant pool of approximately 6,500;

  • Working with the Senior Associate Director to set transfer targets, providing training for transfer admissions policies and procedures, and managing the accurate processing of transfer applications;

  • Attending weekly meetings with Enrollment Services Operations (ESO) staff to review operational issues related to the review of transfer applications;

  • Persuasively communicating the value and benefits of a BU education through in-person and virtual presentations, and;

  • Development, planning, and implementation of recruitment activities that will ensure a strong applicant pool and an incoming class rich in ethnic, geographic, cultural, academic, and socioeconomic diversity.
