Solution Architect – VMware (Avi Networks)
Avi Networks , recently acquired by VMware, delivers software-defined application services with intelligent automation and elasticity with multi-cloud data fabrics. The Avi Vantage Platform ( VMware NSX Advanced Load Balancer ) also includes an Intelligent Web Application Firewall (iWAF) and Universal Service Mesh to ensure fast, scalable, and secure application delivery. Avi Networks also integrates seamlessly with API driven automation and orchestration tools such as Ansible and Terraform. Avi Networks completes and enables enterprises’ digital transformation.
With Avi Networks now part of VMware, we can deliver the industry’s only complete software-defined networking stack from L2-L7 built for the modern multi-cloud era leveraging a common architectural foundation. VMware will be able to offer both built-in load balancing capabilities as part of VMware NSX, and an advanced, standalone ADC offering that includes global server load balancing, web application firewall (WAF) and advanced analytics and monitoring.
We are looking for a driven, experienced pre-sale Solution Architect to build and expand our customer base in major markets. You will be the trusted advisor to drive product stickiness in the account. Developing a strong understanding of Avi Networks and the adjacent ecosystems: public clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP), service mesh & containers (OpenShift, K8s, Istio, Docker, Rancher), OpenStack, SDN (NSX, ACI, Nuage), automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, BOSH), etc., is crucial to the success of this position.
Conduct pre-sales technical assistance, solutions and product education
Provide knowledge transfer and training to field sales team
Lead and drive architecture design for Avi solutions to assist field PoV/PoC
Respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs.
Ability to be hands-on engineer; ensuring well-designed Avi solutions resulting in high customer satisfaction.
Work w/customers, partners, product marketing, product management and engineering to advance product direction.
Working with your peers, field services, principal engineers, architects, product management, and other partners to define the technical roadmap for the products and solutions in response to customer requirements.
Be an effective spokesperson and champion for the engineering teams.
B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
8+ years relevant experience in vendor sales.
10+ years relevant experience building networking, virtualization, and software solutions.
Proven experience as a pre-sales, solution architect , systems engineer or customer-facing engineer working on large scale enterprise environments
Expert in data center networking, network virtualization and orchestration; strong knowledge of L2/L3 protocols and overlay networking - OpenStack, NSX, Nuage, ACI, Calico
Advanced experience with BIG-IP, NetScaler, Thunder ADC - ADC load balancers
Advanced knowledge of container networking and security
Advanced knowledge of automation tools - Ansible, Terraform, Bosh, CloudFormation, python and go
Demonstrated experience in working on solutions that span networking, virtualization and public clouds - Azure, AWS, GCP
A combination of domain expertise in load balancing, global server load balancing, web auth sso, http security and caching
Knowledgeable in scripting languages, and REST API
Document best practices, technical paper publications and public speaking engagements
Ability to see and present "the big picture" and offer solutions to make it better
Some travel will be required
