RedHat Software Engineer - OpenShift Developer Experience in Boston, Massachusetts
The Red Hat Developer App Services team is looking for an Associate Software Engineer to join us. In this role, you will work as a part of the Developer App Services team, developing new features and contributing to upstream projects. This team focuses on three key project areas: establishing the Helm partner/ecosystem program by delivering a first class Helm experience on OpenShift; delivering the Service Binding Operator as the standard mechanism to bind applications running on OpenShift to services by supporting integration with Red Hat Managed Services( Kafka, DBaaS, etc..) , IBM Cloud Paks, Public Cloud Services ( AWS, Azure,IBM, Google, other) and delivering and maintaining Samples and Templates which are key Openshift deliverables.
As a part of a geographically distributed team you will collaborate with multiple Red Hat engineering, product managers, as well as strategic partners and open source communities around the globe. To be successful in this role, you will need to have motivation, curiosity, passion for problem solving, and experience with kubernetes and Go programming language, container technologies, and open source development.
Primary job responsibilities
Learn and understand the technologies involved
Contribute to upstream projects by submitting and reviewing patches for bug fixes and feature requests to and from the community
Ability to thrive in a rapidly changing environment
Communicate with engineering and management teams across the globe
Work in a fast-paced environment where timely deliverables are as important as the big ideas for potential growth
Coordinate with team leads, architects, and other engineers to design solutions
Provide code and peer reviews
Document and maintain software functionality
Participate on a scrum team
Work with the Quality Engineering team to ensure projects are tested correctly
Guide new processes and procedures in the solutions space to improve the quality, consistency, and automation of releases
Publicize the team's work through blogs, web postings, and conference presentations
Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent working experience
Passion for or interest in open source development
2+ years of experience with at least one of the following languages: Golang, Python, scripting languages
Good communication skills, sense of accountability, and willingness to learn and teach
Ability to provide and accept constructive feedback that directly impacts our business goals
Ability to help define, follow, and enforce processes
Ability to quickly learn new technologies
Good written and verbal communication skills in English
Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to directly interact with other teams
Advanced skills in debugging and root cause analysis
The following are considered a plus:
Experience with CI continuous delivery (CD) systems
Experience with container related technologies like Kubernetes
Experience leading or contributing to open source communities
