Sonos Software Development Engineer in Test - Embedded Systems in Boston, Massachusetts

As an SDET in the System Software group, you will work in a small, fast moving environment to test various low level drivers and library API’s. Prospective candidates will help design and lead test automation development to run on target and/or off target devices. This will require collaboration with your partners in Development and Quality to help define and execute the test strategies in order to deliver high quality products. In addition, you will work with teams of industry-leading innovators across acoustics, mechanical engineering, software engineering, hardware engineering, and user experience.   • Collaborate with other members of the System Software team to deliver features that are implemented, tested, and documented at the end of each sprint.

  • Advocate software quality within Sonos through design process, development, testing and deployment of Software releases and HW releases.

  • Mentor junior members of the team to expand their knowledge on advanced topics.

  • Drive the planning and execution of system level testing of products across all platforms to test various features.

  • Define, implement, execute, and maintain manual and automated test cases for both new features and regression areas.

  • Set up test environments and infrastructure.

  • Investigate, log, track, and triage bugs to determine root cause and establish prioritization.

  • Conduct and participate in design and code reviews.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience in embedded software testing which includes a good understanding of standard software development Life Cycle

  • Experience programming with of one or more of the following languages – C/C++, Python

  • Strong knowledge and validation of linux based device drivers

  • Strong knowledge of Linux in both user and kernel space

  • Hands on experience with GDB or any other debugging mechanisms for white box testing

  • Experience in reading schematics and being able to develop automated tests using external hardware

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in development and testing of battery managed systems is a plus

  • Strong networking knowledge with expertise in troubleshooting and debugging

  • Hands on experience with GDB or any other debugging mechanisms for white box testing
