State of Massachusetts Site Investigator (Contractor) in Boston, Massachusetts
The Bureau of Community Health and Prevention (BCHAP) is seeking a part-time Site Investigator (Contractor) for the Occupational Health Surveillance Program to work approximately 15-20 hours per week. This is a temporary contract assignment, and the Investigator will be responsible for conducting workplace-based inspections along with other related intervention and outreach activities.
This position will involve performing advanced site investigations of work-related fatalities in Massachusetts, by adhering to the Fatality Assessment and Control Evaluation (FACE) guidelines. Related tasks involve compiling necessary documentation on the case from the existing occupational fatality case tracking database which includes data from news scans, workplace enforcement agencies, responders, medical examiners, and death record processors. The Site Investigator (Contractor) will aim to conduct a site visit approximately once or twice a month, and then write up a summary of the visit following the FACE guidelines in either a full report or a fact sheet, as appropriate. The Investigator will also aim to advance racial equity and health equity by applying a racial justice framework to workplace inspections, and subsequent report writing and recommendations.
Excellent knowledge of workplace health and safety and applying this knowledge to site investigations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to create and maintain detailed, accurate, and organized written records.
*Period of Service*: 8/2/2020- 6/30/2021
Benefits are unavailable with the exception of sick leave accruals.
Contracts are renewable, subject to the Department approval, performance and allocation of funds.
All employees will be paid on a biweekly basis and must have direct deposit.
