Humana Senior SQL Server Database Administrator in Boston, Massachusetts

The Senior SQL Server Database Administrator manages and maintains all production and non-production databases. This role is responsible for standards and design of physical data storage, maintenance, access and security administration. The Senior Database Administrator work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

The Senior Database Administrator:

  • Performs backup and recovery on Database Management Systems, configures database parameters, and prototype designs against logical data models, defines data repository requirements, data dictionaries and warehousing requirements.

  • Optimizes database access and allocates/re-allocates database resources for optimum configuration, database performance and cost.

  • Supports multiple services and multiple databases of medium to high complexity (complexity defined by database size, technology used, systems feeds and interfaces) with multiple concurrent users, ensuring control, integrity and accessibility of data.

  • Begins to influence department’s strategy.

  • Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction.

  • Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 5 or more years of SQL Server DBA experience

  • 5 or more years of advanced database performance tuning experience

  • 5 or more year of SQL Server Failover Clusters and Always-On experience

  • 2 or more years of matrix project leadership experience

  • Experience integrating new technologies with existing technologies

  • Experience implementing technologies with enterprise-wide impact

  • Strong communication skills, including both verbal and written

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies

  • Healthcare industry experience

  • One or more of the following: CISA, CISM, CRISC, CISSP

  • PMP certification

  • Six Sigma Certification

Additional Information

Location/Work Style: Hybrid/Remote in or near Louisville, KY is preferred but also open to Remote US

Work at Home Guidance

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

$104,800 - $144,300 per year

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
