Commonwealth Care Alliance Senior Scrum Master (Remote) in Boston, Massachusetts

Why This Role is Important to Us:

Position Summary:

We seek an experienced Agile Scrum Master to join our dynamic team at Commonwealth Care Alliance. As a Scrum master, you will facilitate and coordinate Agile Scrum processes within our organization, ensuring the company can work collaboratively and efficiently to deliver high-quality solutions. You will work closely with the business and IT teams to ensure that the work progresses on schedule, within budget, and to the desired level of quality. Additionally, you will serve as a coach and mentor to our team – helping to foster a culture of continuous improvement and ensuring that the team is meeting its objectives consistently. In this role, you will join a collaborative team that operates at a fast pace to solve problems and build a better future for our members and business stakeholders. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in the healthcare payer industry, broad and in-depth understanding of business processes, software systems, and technology platforms that support Medicare and Medicaid Health Plans.

  • No, this position does not have direct reports.

What You'll Be Doing:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Guides and coaches the Scrum Team on how to use Agile practices and principles to deliver high quality products and services to our customers.

  • Gets team to a high performing level by recognizing areas of strength and improvement and employing appropriate coaching and development techniques.

  • Responsible for ensuring Scrum is understood and the team adheres to Scrum theory, practice, and guidelines.

  • Coaches the Scrum team in self-organization, cross-functional skillset, domain knowledge and communicates effectively, both internally and externally working within the Scrum team.

  • Works with Scrum Team, as well as internal and external stakeholders, to influence and drive decision making and support organizational project or product teams.

  • Resolves team impediments with other Scrum Masters to increase the effectiveness of the application of Scrum in the organization.

  • Works with Agile coaches and other Scrum Masters to grow within the role.

  • Contributes to the advancement and improvement of Agile practices within the organization.

  • Facilitates and supports all scrum events: Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective.

  • Acts as a leader who coaches and supports Agile teams assigned to mainly Business as Usual (BAU) work and important department initiatives and applicable portions of corporate projects and initiatives.

  • Provides oversight to ensure technical solutions effectively support business needs

What We're Looking For:

Required Education (must have):

  • Bachelors Degree

Desired Education (nice to have):

  • Masters Degree

Required Experience (must have):

  • 15+ years’ experience that has served in multiple roles such as product owner, configuration lead, product management, and/or business consultant.

  • Experience in coaching agile best practices and driving operational process change

  • 8+ years leadership experience driving business solutions and configuration utilizing 8+ years managing solutions implementations

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (must have):

  • Agile and Project Management Tools & Methodologies including SCRUM, SAFE, Kanban, Jira, MS Project

  • Financial management Ability to create project estimates, maintain forecast of cost at completion, identify and resolve variances, initiate change requests as appropriate to secure additional funding, generate purchase order, validate and pay invoices.

  • Proven track record of managing an agile backlog for multiple products across matrixed stakeholders.

  • Adaptability/ Flexibility Adapts to change, is open to new ideas, takes on new responsibilities, handles pressure, and adjusts plans to meet changing needs.

  • Customer Focus Builds customer confidence, is committed to increasing customer satisfaction, sets achievable customer expectations, assumes responsibility for solving customer problems, ensures commitments to customers are met, solicits opinions and ideas from customers, responds to internal customers. Excellent communication skills required.

  • Decision Making/ Judgment Recognizes problems and responds, systematically gathers information, sorts through complex issues, seeks input from others, addresses root cause of issues, makes timely decisions, can make difficult decisions, uses consensus when possible, and communicates decisions to others.

Ability to manage program-level portfolio workloads (multi-project scope).

Desired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Language (nice to have):

  • Enrollment Strong knowledge of healthcare enrollment systems and data preferably including the MHK Market Prominence platform.

  • Claims Strong knowledge of healthcare claims systems and data, including payment integrity, pricing, editing, and encounter submission.

  • Provider Data Management Strong knowledge of healthcare payer provider processes, supporting systems, and data including credentialling, contracting, directory management, eligibility, referrals & auths, claims, and remittance.

  • Sales & Broker Mgmt Strong knowledge of healthcare sales and broker processes, supporting systems and data, including opportunity mgmt, application submission, and commission payment.

  • Member Service Strong knowledge of call center processes and supporting systems.

  • Risk Adjustment Experience supporting Medicare risk adjustment programs, supporting systems, and data including HCC capture, program evaluation, and financial analysis.

  • Care Management Strong knowledge of care management processes, supporting systems, and data.
