The Cellular Pharmacology group at the department of Quantitative Biosciences is seeking an innovative and experienced Senior Scientist with a strong background in cell signaling and in vitro models of immunology, inflammation, and oncology to join our Quantitative Biosciences Department at our Company Research Laboratories in Boston. The successful candidate will play an essential role in developing assays in cellular context for screening and translational relevance. The alignment of these screening and translational assays with biochemical, ex-vivo and in-vivo approaches will greatly enhance our capabilities in the discovery of innovative therapeutics.

Responsibilities:

  • Working collaboratively with members of department and multi-functional drug discovery project teams to drive design and optimization of therapeutic candidates. The successful candidate will support cellular aspects of hit to lead optimization efforts against a variety of targets across diverse therapeutic areas with different modalities.

  • This individual will be expected to design and execute multiple cell based assays with deep comprehension of cell signaling to implement assay automation, new technologies, rigorous data analysis techniques quality control and work with research database in order to identify lead molecules, evaluate the structure-activity relationships and to characterize the mechanisms of action comprehending the biochemical and biophysical approaches.

  • Identify and apply emerging innovative methodologies to the development of advanced fit for purpose in vitro models in support of research projects targeting inflammation, autoimmune indications, and oncology.

  • Establish novel translational in vitro approaches that represent human disease pathology to answer cellular signaling, target engagement, translation and mechanistic questions.

  • Function and communicate effectively in a highly productive and multi-disciplinary environment.

Education Requirements:

  • B.S./B.A. degree with a minimum 8+ years of industry experience; or an M.S. degree with 6+ years of industry experience; or a PhD in immunology, oncology, pharmacology or related field with a minimum of 0-3+ years post-Ph.D. experience [academia/industry] with good publications.

Required Experience:

  • Proficiency in primary immune cell isolation and stimulation, flow cytometry, proliferation and apoptosis assays, and immunoassay techniques/platforms (e.g. Western, ELISA, Mesoscale) to measure signaling intermediates and cytokines.

  • Hands-on knowledge in developing robust in vitro models with engineered and primary cell lines, 3D and co-culture systems for investigations on target biology and screening in immunology/cancer biology.

  • Good understanding of routine molecular biology, QRT-PCR , protein chemistry, cell line generation and imaging techniques.

  • Candidate should be a strong team player with excellent oral and written communication skills and with a demonstrated ability to solve problems independently and excel in a cross-functional team.

  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience adaptive and/or innate immune cell biology with strong hands-on experience in human T cells is preferred.
