Boston University RESEARCH TECHNICIAN 1, School of Medicine, Pharmacology in BOSTON, Massachusetts

The Mews lab is seeking a research technician who will be a proactive, organized, and helpful presence in a newly established group. Experience in cellular/molecular experimental techniques is ideal but not required.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working under the guidance of an experienced scientist in characterizing mouse models of drug addiction.

  • According to established protocols and assigned schedules, performs a variety of routine laboratory experiments and procedures, utilizing standard laboratory equipment, recording and checking results for completeness and accuracy.

  • Learns animal surgery techniques and behavioral assays from collaborating researchers.

  • Routine transgenic mouse colony maintenance, genotyping, and characterization.

  • Maintains records of results and methodologies in a log of work performed.

  • Inventories supplies, alerts supervisor to needed supplies, or mixes standard reagents.

Required Skills

Bachelor's required with 1-3 years of related experience.
