RedHat Research Co-op - Office of the CTO in Boston, Massachusetts
The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a Research Co-op to join us in Boston, MA. In this role, you will work with the CTO Research Group to manage, evaluate, document, and support Red Hat’s research projects conducted jointly with several U.S. academic organizations. You will also work directly with program managers and Red Hat’s engineers, faculty, and students to share research project results in events, articles, web pages, Git repositories, and other formats that make open source projects more accessible to research communities. As a Research Co-op, you will gain familiarity with software and systems that support Linux and hybrid cloud development in areas like kernel programming, cloud security, data storage, sharing and privacy, Red Hat OpenShift (Kubernetes), machine learning (ML), internet of things (IoT), Open Virtual Network OVN, and multi-party computing. Primary job responsibilities
Work with senior members of the Research Group to develop improved processes and tools needed to support multiple concurrent research projects, as well as the participants, advisers, and students collaborating with Red Hat
Meet regularly with research interest groups and support their work by evaluating new research proposals, sharing updates from ongoing projects, and getting maximum exposure for and feedback on research results
Contribute regularly to the research.redhat.com website
Support live events hosted by Red Hat and associated academic groups
Become familiar with hybrid cloud technologies and practical ways to use that technology to support research projects
Become adept at working in an agile environment
Pursuing a bachelor’s program in science, engineering, or business with a deep interest in technology
Familiarity with Linux
Experience with web content management and basic web development
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Excellent organizational skills
The following are considered a plus:
Having contributed to any open source project
Having participated in any research project
Having participated in a hackathon
