Specifically, we modify the B-cell receptor loci of primary B cells, return these edited B cells to their host, and expand these cells through immunization with mRNA vaccines. This technology allows us to generate potent, bioavailable human antibodies in other species. It also allows us to evaluate and improve vaccines and helps us address unanswered questions in B-cell biology. Finally, engineered B cells can themselves help control many infections including HIV.
