Penn Foster Product Manager, Career Programs in Boston, Massachusetts

Position Summary:

Penn Foster is on a mission to connect people to jobs by providing digital learning solutions for individuals, job training organizations, and employers looking for sustained career advancement and development of robust talent pipelines. The Occupational Product Manager role at Penn Foster is a critical part of that mission.

Our portfolio of career training programs is large and diverse, with concentrations in a few core industries. This role will be responsible for managing a portfolio of programs that include business and administrative, early childhood education, retail and hospitality, and criminal justice.

The right person will help Penn Foster develop a roadmap of work across all programs, prioritizing efforts to improve learner outcomes, including progression and retention rates, completions, and job success. You will partner with academic leaders, curriculum and content developers, learning analysts, and other stakeholders to identify pockets of opportunity and maintain alignment to employer-defined skills in these fields.

You will join a team of product managers advocating for a test-and-learn approach to product development, helping to instill a mindset of rapid improvement and outcomes-oriented work. And you will rely on evidence-based decision making and ruthless prioritization of work that adds value, clearly communicating product development decisions across the organization to build a culture of trust and transparency with all stakeholders.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Become an expert on our learners – bringing their voices, goals, needs, and challenges to every conversation and decision that gets made.

  • Be the spokesperson for our product internally, building trust and creating a shared understanding of strategy and execution across all stakeholders.

  • Work across departments to better align our programs to job opportunities and drive sustained improvement in business and learner outcomes.

  • Actively support our enterprise sales and client success teams as an expert on how our career programs prepare people for the workforce.

  • Analyze and monitor key competitors to stay on top of market trends and position our portfolio for growth.

    How Success Will Be Measured:

  • Learner Outcomes – improve academic success, retention and progression, completion rates, and transition rate into jobs post-graduation

  • Product Quality – increase product adoption, ensuring learners develop key habits of success, and alignment to skills required to succeed in the workforce

  • Learner Satisfaction – create an intuitive and engaging user experience that makes it easy for learners to achieve their goals

  • Financial Performance – grow product revenue and profitability, increase market share and lifetime value

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree

Experience: Ideal candidates will have 3-5 years' experience, with at least 2 of those years in product management, preferably in EdTech, workforce training & development, or digital consumer products company.

Skills & Capabilities:

  • Excellent Written and Oral Communication Skills – the ability to create shared understanding within and across teams at various levels of the organization

  • Leadership and Collaboration – ability to align the team behind a goal and work cross-functionally to achieve a vision

  • Data Literacy – experience and comfort working with data to draw insights and frame opportunities

  • Decision-Making – ability to evaluate opportunities and solutions, weighing costs and benefits, and selecting projects that add the most value to our learners

  • Market / Customer Research – product managers should be customer experts, bringing the voice of the learner into everything we build and do
