Ford Motor Company Principle Engineer, Cloud Services in Boston, Massachusetts

We are searching for Principle Software Engineer with deep expertise in Kubernetes Platform Engineering and the Istio Service Mesh technology. Our IDP is based on Kubernetes and we are looking for someone who understands how to extending the Kubernetes with additional functionality through techniques such as API Aggregation. Extensive experience with eBPF and Kubernetes networking and security is a plus.

What you'll do...

  • Configure Istio for secure, multi-cluster communication

  • Integrate with Ford’s Cyber Security tooling and process

  • Extend Kubernetes API surface area through API Aggregation

  • Programming using the Go programming language

You'll have...

  • B.S. in Computer or Software Engineering or related degree; or foreign equivalency degree, or a combination of equivalent experience and education.

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in software engineering or site reliability engineering

  • 2 + years experience as Integrated Developer Platform based on the Kubernetes platform technology

Even better, you may have...

  • Strong background in cloud managed infrastructure and observability platforms

  • Security and networking configuration utilizing Istio Service Mesh and eBPF

  • Proficient in software development best practices and methodologies

  • Go programming expertise

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills

  • Experience with process optimization and operational excellence

  • Ability to foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
