Security is the #1 concern of customers moving to the cloud and the AWS Cryptography team is dedicated to providing the security features our customers need. We enable customers to confidently move sensitive workloads to the cloud where they can benefit from security controls that help meet internal and external compliance requirements.
AWS Cryptography is developing cryptographic computing technologies such as privacy preserving machine learning, fully and partially homomorphic encryption, secure multiparty computation, private information retrieval, and related technologies, that will raise the bar for how we protect customer data. We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer that can turn these innovations into reality by architecting, implementing, and deploying cryptographic computing technologies into new and existing AWS services.
In this role, you will:
Design, develop and deliver cryptographic computing to internal and external customers around the world.
Develop architectural solutions that are exemplary in terms of efficiency, scalability, extensibility, and the ability to evolve over time.
Decompose significantly complex engineering problems into straightforward solutions.
Lead a strategically important project involving multiple teams.
Set the standard for engineering excellence
Work with a team of truly innovative research scientists and engineers.
Be a committed technical leader who develops and mentors junior engineer

· 10+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems
· 3+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
· 4+ years of professional software development experience
· 2+ years of experience as a mentor, tech lead OR leading an engineering team
· Have experience building applications with AWS core services (EC2, S3, RDS, KMS, etc.).
· Deep understanding of cryptography principles
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey technical information to a wide variety of audiences.
· Demonstrated ability to mentor other software developers to maintain architectural vision and software quality.
