Practice Assistant

The Practice Support Assistant will help support providers in the clinical department. The main responsibilities will range from follow-up to scheduling and managing appointments, while providing excellent customer service. Ideally this person will help improve the operations by coordinating interdepartmental communication. (i.e. between team clinicians, patients, the patient service center and others)

Qualifications and Skills: -High school diploma or GED required -Minimun of 1 year ecperience in a medical/clinical office environment or Health or Dental insurance industry required -Haitian Creole or Spanish preferred - Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills -Ability to interact with diverse patient populations -Computer literacy; ability to miltitask, organize and prioritize one's own work -Understanding of medical insurance terminology -Previous experience in an EHR, EPIC, or other insurance eligibility verification systems (i.e. MMIS, WebMD, Trizetto, NEHEN)

Responsibilities

-Welcome all incoming visitors, monitor waiting rooms, coordinate with staff to ensure quick, efficient, and safe patient flow.

-Perform patient Check In functions, incl. registration, insurance verification, collecting required co-pays or other payments, administering the sliding scale discount program, and ‘arriving’ patients for their appointments in the EHR.

-Enter accurate patient data, telephone encounters, referrals, forms and prescription requests into the Electronic Health Record (EHR).

-Assist patients with completing / collecting pre-visit, consent and other forms; processing patient forms, letters or obtaining prescription request information from patients.

-Schedule appointments

-Ensure workstation, patient waiting room and common areas are kept clean.

-Attend staff meetings and training, as needed

-Other duties as assigned
