The Oncology Pharmacy Clinical Coordinator shall be responsible for:

  • Providing direct pharmaceutical care services. Providing pharmaceutical care to patients to achieve optimal therapeutic outcomes. Conducts rounds with a healthcare team

  • Reviewing medication profiles for appropriate drug selection, dose, route and frequency. Identifying and resolves actual drug-related problems. Identifying and develops plan to prevent potential drug-related problems

  • Coordinating training, education, competency evaluations and performance evaluations of team members –professional and technical

  • Participating in budgetary control for pharmaceutical care including medication expenditures, staffing requirements and technological needs

  • Supervising all distributive aspects of pharmaceutical care provided to patients. Improving systems and processes to ensure safe, accurate and timely provision of all aspects of pharmaceutical care. Defining pharmacy support requirements for Oncology Team (team of 6)

  • Participating in collaborative projects to improve patient care, quality improvement or resolve clinical problems

  • Guiding pharmacists through educational programs to increase knowledge of appropriate pharmacotherapy use and patient monitoring. Mentors pharmacists, residents, students, interns and technicians. May precept pharmacy students or teach/coordinate didactic courses for colleges/schools of pharmacy. Presenting in-services to prescribers and nurses to increase their knowledge and optimize medication use

  • Participating in independent or collaborative research to improve patient care or resolve clinical problems. Promoting rational, safe and effective medication use by developing protocols/guidelines through research activities.

  • Preparing papers and journal articles for publication and presentation. Maintaining professional competence

In order to qualify you must have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, MA Pharmacist license and a minimum of 5-7 years advanced practice experience. Oncology pharmacy experience and previous pharmacy supervisory experience essential.

  • Previous pharmacy supervisory experience highly preferred.

  • Analytical skills to collect information from diverse sources, and summarize the information and data in order to solve problems or design relatively complex systems and programs

  • Interpersonal skills in order to manage the pharmacy staff members under supervision as well as to interact effectively with prescriber, nursing and other healthcare personnel within the hospital
