  • Overseeing sterile processing on 1st and 2nd shift including oversight of all sterile processing FTEs with direct oversight of the single shift managers and supervisors

  • Overseeing development, implementation, and maintenance of internal policies and procedures for processing, storage and handling of medical surgical and surgical supplies and equipment. Developing and implementing new and/or updated decontamination and sterilization methods as needed

  • Establishing department goals and objectives. Developing and maintaining an organizational structure to support the required functions efficiently. Evaluating services delivery systems and procedures and recommending changes to improve efficiency and effectiveness

  • Monitoring usage of inventory, establishing par levels and initiating purchase of items as needed. Evaluating, recommending, and assisting in introduction of new instruments and materials. Working with CPD/OR staff and/or other hospital departments to develop and maintain systems and procedures for tracking and distribution of processed instruments

  • Maintaining knowledge of current trends and practices in processing and maintenance of medical and surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies through participation in professional organizations and attendance at relevant continuing education programs. Leading committees and project teams as appropriate

  • Administering the recruitment, evaluations, growth and development of employees. Following through on disciplinary and other personnel actions as warranted. Overseeing in-services and continuing education programs for staff development in collaboration with Supervisors and Educators

  • Implementing procedural change as needed to ensure compliance with hospital, department, and external policies, standards, and regulations. Overseeing and ensuring completion of required quality monitoring and related data collection. Maintaining related records and preparing reports as necessary.

To qualify, you must have:

  • A minimum of five to seven years of related supervisor or managerial experience is required

  • Two years of occupationally specific education or Associate's degree is required. bachelor's degree preferred

  • Current certification for CRCST, CIS, CER and CHL are strongly preferred

  • The ability to effectively manage the employees within assigned unit/department

  • Communication skills in order to effectively deal with conflicting views or issues and mediate fair solutions, or well-developed writing skills

  • The ability to interact and coordinate with employees, vendors, surgeons, and nursing staff
