Red River Network Engineer III (Evergreen) in Boston, Massachusetts
Red River is seeking a Network Engineer III to join our growing team. The Network Engineer III is primarily responsible for working on a team at the Red River Service Desk. This position will handle technical support requests directly from customers as well as escalation from other team members and field engineers. Our engineers are responsible for maintaining user uptime and improving their experiences through effective maintenance, problem identification and resolution activities, as well as growing and developing the organization’s perception with existing customers through exceptional customer service. Candidates must be energetic and focused with a strong motivation to learn new technologies and management and maintenance processes. This position requires dedication, persistence, effective utilization of provided resources and the ability to deliver superior customer service. This position will report to a Team Leader.
Primary Position Tasks:
Monitor network equipment such as firewalls, switches, and WAPs
Supporting and troubleshooting Cisco routing and switching equipment as well as ASAs, wireless, and other components of LAN and WAN networks
Comfortable with troubleshooting and managing multivendor firewalls (ASA, FTD, Meraki, Palo Alto, SonicWALL, FortiGate, Sophos,)
Responsible for maintaining and upgrading network infrastructure. Including patching due to vulnerability
Maintains network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting network problems; escalating problems to vendor
Ensure network security by maintaining proper network access control, evaluation, maintaining documentation
Work with monitoring tools to diagnose via logs and investigate failures or errors in the Network environment, escalating as necessary
Evaluate environment for process improvement and make recommendations collaborate and communicate with other team members to provide good service and issue resolution.

Act as a mentor to Red River interns and junior Engineers
Maintain/Create Network diagrams, and documentation as needed.
Create and execute Change Management Requests following best practice.
Participate in RFO documentation
Previous experience with fast-paced consulting or MSP environment a plus.
Minimum Education/Certification/Experience Requirements:
Minimum 5 years of related experience troubleshooting Networks.
Strong work experience with Firewall/Router/Switch/Wireless Troubleshooting and SD-WAN
Experience with supporting and troubleshooting of the below technologies:
Advanced understanding of TCP/IP. Core networking fundamentals mastery.
Advanced understanding of routing protocols
Advanced understanding wireless LAN technologies
Advanced understanding of Cisco ASA, ISR routers, catalyst/nexus switching, and WLAN
Advanced understanding of various WAN connectivity options and design (Metro-E, MPLS, P2P, SDWAN)
Advanced understanding of IPSEC VPN configurations
Hands on Experience with Firepower
Hands on Experience with Coyote Point Load Balancer
Hands on Experience with Aerohive Wireless
Hands on Experience with FireEye
Participate on on-call rotations
Ability to work weekends and/or off hours as necessary to meet clients' needs
Required Certifications: CCNP route/switch and/or security
Preferred Education/Certification/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree desired

Strong consulting and communication skills
Confidence and experience in front of clients
Strong ability to work in a team-based environment
Ability to be a self-starter and possess good time management skills
Essential Elements (Mental; Physical; Equipment used):
This position is an office position that requires remaining in a stationary position for multiple hours throughout the workday.
This position requires the ability to continuously communicate with co-workers throughout the day utilizing Red River approved and/or provided communication tools and equipment.
Salary: $120,000.00
