Your Impact:
As a Senior Telecommunications Designer, will be accountable for preparing engineering drawings from sketches or engineering information. You will be responsible for budget, schedule and quality of assigned tasks.
Other duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Gain familiarity with the client’s expectations, scope, budget and schedule for assigned tasks
Recognize and communicate scope and design changes promptly
Collaborate design criteria with engineering team members to gather information required to design telecom system
Coordinate with electrical team members for systems power requirements
Plan and design backbone distribution, cable pathways, Audio-visual, and telecom space drawings and schematics for commercial and industrial buildings using CAD software
Conduct field reviews and surveys to verify accuracy of completed design
Interpret architect drawings/specifications, blueprints and construction documents
Apply all applicable codes including manufacturer instructions.
Utilize BIM software to provide layouts, general arraignments, profile views, details, under close supervision
Produce installation details and room layouts
Provide on-site assistance during start-ups and construction
Lead and provide guidance to a draftsperson or other subordinate
Coordinate work activities with other staff members and the discipline lead
Produce installation specifications with engineering review and approval
Understand and apply both Jacobs and client safety standards in design and everyday activities.
Actively cooperate with members of your project task force, client personnel and members of your department, as appropriate
Understand client expectations, as determined by the team, and constantly strive to achieve or better these
Meet commitments that you make to the client, individually or as a team, to complete work by certain dates or within agreed effort hour or cost budgets
Here’s What You’ll Need:
Knowledge and application of NFPA 70 (NEC), TIA/EIA standards, and other NFPA codes governing designs
Knowledge and application of relevant codes and standards such as NEMA, ANSI.
Knowledge and application of company engineering design and BIM & CAD drafting standards
Able to route and size raceways, perform fill calculations
Familiarity with specifications and installation details
Knowledge and application of Article 500, Hazardous (Classified) Locations
Able to develop specifications
Able to create accurate installation documents from information found on vendor equipment drawings and submittals
Knowledge and understanding of work / information flow between disciplines
Knowledge and understanding of schedule constraints and information requirements for the production of deliverables
Able to accurately estimate completion of assigned tasks
Develop staffing plans based on deliverables to be produced and the project schedule
Able to develop a construction cost estimate, detailed engineering schedule and an effort hour budget
Develop design criteria and scope of work
Bachelors of Science - in Engineering, or Architecture.
This position requires a minimum 10 years of relevant experience in telecommunication design / drafting.
Proficient in Revit and 2D AutoCAD
BISCI, RCDD Certification
Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, OneNote, and Access
Good listening, writing and communication skills
Good presentation skills
Ideally you'll also have:
Professional Engineering license or Architecture License
Ability to obtain a United States secret clearance
Prior experience working on federal projects
− Typical salary range for this position is $77,400 to $120,975 and is commensurate with experience relative to the position. For “remote” positions, salary to be offered is geographic dependent.
