Supervise daily operations of the inventory needs of the area. Monitor and assume an active role in the resolution of intra and inter-departmental supply chain issues, function as a liaison between inventory teams and leadership of the areas and their customers, and provide leadership and guidance to the staff in areas including but not limited to, in-service education focusing on job-related topics, issues/developments within Materials Logistics, supply chain developments occurring within Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and BILH, and any other pertinent information, meet with key stakeholders and department leadership to monitor performance and work with same to improve efficiencies. Analyze service requirements and par levels and implement changes as required. Insure adequate inventory levels at all storage locations.
Job Description:
Essential Responsibilities:
Assure that all departments are stocked per the pre-established par levels. Produces, distributes, and files appropriate documents, including updating Inventory manuals and catalogs. Interfaces with Managers, Directors, and/or designees to monitor performance and improve efficiency in all Materials Logistics services.
Supervises that the Just-in-Time program (JIT) for material supplies to the unitisre done in a timely and cost-efficient manner from our vendor. Works with department leadership on and serves as point person for any inventory management software application(s) used to procure monitor supplies.
Works closely with vendors and departments to analyze and establish appropriate par levels for every location
Project manages storage areas and major par-level change initiatives. Monitors and adjusts pars as appropriate
Monitors inventory levels in the Distribution areas (annual inventory expense of over $10 million) and develops strategies to minimize overstock, unused products and expired supplies as much as possible. Establishes and supervises regular cycle count processes to minimize inventory loss and unnecessary expenses. Reviews and addresses inventory variances.
Assures that all supply issues, distribution purchases, receipts, and invoice discrepancies are addressed in a timely manner. Calls in orders and expedites where necessary.
Functions as a resource to both Materials Management Specialists and user department staff for all supply-related issues (product availability, substitutions, etc.)
Supervises Materials Operations staff in multiple locations. Holds daily shift huddles with staff. Assists department manager in resolving interdepartmental issues. Functions as an integral part the of Materials Operations leadership team, including daily shift-change communications. Requires weekend shifts on alternate weeks.
Has the authority to direct and suppoemployee'sees daily work activities. Has the direct responsibility to undertake the following employment actions: hiring, termination, corrective action, and performance reviews. Direct Reports: More than 2-3+ Indirect Reports: None
Assists in planning, monitoring, and/or managing the budget in the functional area of the department.
Required Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
1-3 years related work experience required and 1-3 years supervisory/management experience required
Comprehensive knowledge of inventory management systems and excellent understanding of invoices, purchasing, medical equipment, and receiving operations required. Knowledge of sound personnel management, inventory, and purchasing practices required.
Analytic skills and familiarity with computerized software, procurement and payable systems, ideally with either ESI or PeopleSoft software experience required.
Must be able to work independently and within a team to complete designed tasks and projects simultaneously. Expert ability to train and motivate staff at a variety of skill levels. Must be able to think in an efficient, proactive manner and demonstrate excellent communication, customer service skills and judgment.
Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
CMRP certification preferred.
MDM software and Mobile device management experience preferred.

Physical Nature of the Job:
Very Heavy work: Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or 50 pounds of force continually. Employee is physically active in all elements of the job.
