Description

This position requires a candidate to be local to the Boston area for local travel, but will work remotely.

Function:

Seeking a detail oriented, dynamic candidate excited to work in LGBTQIA+ Aging. Reporting to the Director of the LGBTQIA+ Aging Project, this position will work in conjunction with LGBTQIA+ Aging Project Director to deliver technical assistance and training for aging services, outreach, and engagement of LGBTQIA+ older adults, and coordinate Aging Project activities. This position is funded through a state contract that renews annually on July 1st. Continued employment in this position is contingent on continued receipt of grant funding.

Representative Duties:

Conduct LGBTQIA+ Aging Project technical assistance, outreach, and engagement

  • Collaborate with mainstream aging service organizations on development, implementation, and outreach for LGBTQIA+ inclusive programming

  • Coordinate and host educational/community programs and activities for LGBTQIA+ older adults/caregivers and allies

  • Outreach and collaboration with LGBTQIA+ and mainstream community groups to expand affinity groups

  • Coordinate LGBTQIA+ Senior Pride Coalition – for Boston Pride 4 the People

  • Maintain documentation for all outreach and programming efforts/events

  • Responsible for collaboration with FH communications department regarding outreach, education, social media, etc.

Provide training, programming, and visibility support for Aging Project

  • Collaborate with Aging Project Director to develop and deliver trainings and technical assistance content (modules, best practice tool kits, in person training sessions)

  • Develop and deliver presentations at public community events, conferences etc.

  • Develop and maintain adequate proficiency in LGBTQIA+ aging policy issues

  • Develop and maintain adequate proficiency in mainstream aging networks, policies, programs

  • Represent LGBTQIA+ Aging Project in professional, location appropriate manner.

  • Represent LGBTQIA+ Aging Project with local and national community partners

  • Provide support to LGBTQIA+ Aging Project events, projects as needed

  • Represent Aging Project Director when necessary

Participate in overall administrative/program coordination of Aging Project

  • Maintain records, statistics; provide reports as necessary

  • Monitor budget expenditures for outreach programs

  • Collaborate with TFI Education Division and Fenway Health Center as needed

  • Suggests and participates in continuing quality improvement efforts

  • Adheres to all agency and departmental policies and procedures

  • Participates in quality assessment and improvement activities as requested

  • Adheres to the highest principles of client confidentiality

  • Adheres to established safety policies, procedures, and precautions; identifies potential or actual unsafe situations in the environment and takes measures to rectify the situation

  • Attends all required meetings, in-services, and professional trainings

  • Maintains professional competence necessary to perform job responsibilities; maintains and provides agency with records of continuing education activities

  • Serves on agency committees and in professional organizations when requested

Requirements

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree

  • Knowledge of and familiarity with LGBTQIA+ communities

  • Knowledge of and experience with older adults

  • Experience in community engagement, marketing, or related areas

  • Excellent written and public speaking/presentation skills

  • Excellent time management skills and proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Proven ability to work independently

  • Ability to travel approximately twice a month throughout MA as needed

  • Ability to work harmoniously and effectively with colleagues, patients, clients, and vendors across the spectrum of diversity including but not limited to race, ethnicity, color, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, socio-economic status, national origin and immigrant status, religious or spiritual identity, disability (physical, mental, emotional, and developmental), veteran status, and/or limited English proficiency.

  • Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed for community programs

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of and familiarity with aging services network

  • Knowledge of or ability to learn Microsoft, Powerpoint, Excel, Zoom

This is a union position in a Fenway Health bargaining unit represented by 1199 SEIU United Healthcare Workers East.
