Job Description

The opportunity

John Hancock is currently transforming our Long-Term Care business to help our customers age in place and receive the care that they need. This team focuses on the delivery of solutions that create and support engaging and frictionless experiences for our customers, producers, and employees, leveraging vendors, digital platforms and/or solutions.

The Lead Product Owner will be focused on driving our Long-Term Care wellness and preferred provider strategies in an agile delivery model. They will act as the voice of the business and voice of the customer for the major components of the Long-Term Care Health & Prevention strategy. This role contributes to the realization of the Long-Term Care Health & Prevention strategy, vision, and OKRs by aligning and prioritizing business goals with actionable results.

Responsibilities

Responsible for business outcomes in alignment with segment/global priorities for assigned areas:

  • Partner with team members to drive John Hancock’s Long-Term Care transformation and strategic priorities within the Health & Wellness pillar, represent the team on cross-functional work, identify issues, escalate as required, and recommend solutions to keep priorities on track.

  • Acts as the voice of the business and voice of the customer within the squads to ensure business and end-user satisfaction

  • Maintains an excellent understanding of business, customer, and end-user pain points, needs, and preferences

  • Maintains an excellent understanding of relevant personas and customer journeys in order to advocate for the ideal experience

  • Proactively monitors and shares industry, competitive and general business trends to enable strategic planning and delivery of outcomes in alignment with segment priorities

  • Works as the “customer proxy” and consistently applies to customer lens to solutions

  • Ensures the voice of the customer/partner is prominent and accurate in the definition of user stories

  • Drives the strategy, planning and delivery of key capabilities for the Agile Release Train/major business journey, including features

  • Primarily leads the Agile squad(s) in ensuring value creation for the business, customers, and end-users by owning the squad backlog and ensuring that the highest value work is always being executed

  • Ensures the backlog is visible, clear and understood by all squad members

  • Incorporates feedback from customer demos, interviews, user research, and engineering into the squad backlog

  • Accepts the work outputs (i.e. completed user stories) of the squad by ensuring all stories meet the definition of don

You will be part of the Long-Term Care Health & Prevention team, reporting directly into the AVP of Long-Term Care Health and Prevention. This role is critical in enabling us to transform how we engage with our end customers and enable them to age in place and receive the care that they need.

What We Are Looking For

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in a business role enabling innovation or growth within the long-term care insurance industry or similar

  • Business knowledge and understanding of long-term care insurance and understanding of wellness programs for the aging population.

  • Understanding of providers of Aging Services (Home Health, Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing, etc.).

  • Strong analysis and solution-oriented attitude.

  • Demonstrated experience implementing solutions that drive business results.

  • Exceptional understanding of project management methodologies and workflow design.

  • Excellent knowledge of digital enterprise enablement technologies and practices

  • Understanding of system design and analysis and user testing.

  • Superior organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to cultivate relationships with key collaborators representing a broad range of functions and levels.

  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Visio.

Salary & Benefits

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

Primary Location

Boston, Massachusetts

Salary range is expected to be between

$114,975.00 USD - $206,955.00 USD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. Employees also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn incentive compensation tied to business and individual performance.
