Job Description:

Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced ITS Project Manager to lead their Workday Student Experience implementation projects. This pivotal role will focus on optimizing the student experience by ensuring seamless integration with Workday, Banner ERP, and Financial Aid systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong project management skills, a deep understanding of higher education processes, and a passion for collaboration across diverse teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Lead the end-to-end management of Workday Student projects, ensuring alignment with institutional goals, timelines, and budgets.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, goals, and deliverables.

  • Coordinate efforts between IT, Academic Affairs, Student Services, and other departments for effective project execution.

  • Facilitate teamwork to ensure smooth project integration across departments.

  • Oversee the integration of Workday Student with existing IT infrastructure, including Banner ERP systems.

  • Implement and optimize Financial Aid systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and improving student support processes.

  • Track project progress, manage risks, and proactively address issues or obstacles.

  • Manage project changes and control scope adjustments, ensuring proper evaluation and approval processes.

  • Provide regular updates to leadership and stakeholders regarding project progress, risks, and key milestones.

  • Ensure effective communication of project changes and decisions to all relevant parties.

  • Oversee User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure readiness prior to go-live.

  • Manage post-implementation support and training to facilitate successful adoption of new systems.

  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including schedules, reports, and change logs throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Continuously benchmark project management performance to identify areas for improvement and enhance project management capabilities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience managing IT projects, preferably in higher education or with enterprise systems like Workday.

  • Strong understanding of Student Information Systems (SIS) and their impact on the student experience.

  • Proven experience managing or integrating with Banner ERP systems.

  • Familiarity with Financial Aid regulations, processes, and systems.

  • Proficiency with project management tools and methodologies (i.e., PMI, Agile, Waterfall, etc.).

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.

  • Experience managing technical teams and vendors, demonstrating empathy and understanding of diverse personality types.

  • Familiarity with higher education processes and requirements.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

  • Sensitivity to working in a political environment and interacting with senior leadership.

  • Effective influencing and negotiating skills in environments with limited direct control over resources.

  • Strong understanding of business needs, maintaining high levels of customer trust and confidence.

  • Awareness of current and emerging technologies and their application in driving digital business.

  • Experience in academic IT environments and understanding the specific security needs of educational institutions is a plus.

  • PMP or other relevant project management certification is preferred.
