What You’ll Do Here:

We are looking for a highly motivated Intellectual Property (IP) Data Operations Analyst to join our team of IP professionals in our Data Strategy & Operations group. This role will support the evolution of Cengage Group’s commercial models and product offerings by analyzing how IP can be used across our global functions without infringing on our third-party and other contracts. The Analyst will be responsible for delivering data-driven insights across Operations and IP groups, including interpreting contracts such as royalty bearing author agreements and IP licenses. This role requires strong critical thinking skills to make IP risk-based decisions in support of our compliance programs. The IP Data Operations Analyst will also be accountable for supporting ongoing data integrity efforts to improve Cengage’s IP data. Further duties and responsibilities include:

  • Provide analytic and operational decision support to optimize Cengage Group’s IP strategy

  • Compile and analyze large datasets from various systems

  • Stay current copyright law and industry changes

  • Participate in testing for IP system upgrades, improvements, and modifications

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Cengage to ensure their needs are incorporated into IP data setup and maintenance processes.

  • Maintain a deep understanding of Cengage Learning’s products, processes, systems/tools, and personnel and maintain auditable data practices, including SOX compliant processes.

  • Capture and communicate findings within a broader project structure and maintain healthy project management and workflow practices.

    Required Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

  • 2+ years related experience in IP data, IP acquisition, IP reuse, or similar

  • Experience with collecting, analyzing, and synthesizing large datasets to identify problems and propose solutions

  • Contract interpretation experience

  • Ability to analyze large, complex datasets

  • The ability to work with international stakeholders and understand different viewpoints and values

  • Collaborative problem solving and working style to drive change through influence

  • Commitment to providing excellent customer service; demonstrated willingness to take ownership of issues and see them through to resolution

  • Proactive problem solving and critical thinking skills with a focus on getting it right

  • Organizational skills and a very strong attention to detail

  • Advanced with Microsoft Office Suite of systems, particularly MS Excel
