Under the guidance supervision of the Manager and Rehabilitation Services Staff, provide assistance to the staff in the provision of Physical and Occupational Therapy services/Cast Room to the Hospital's inpatients and/or outpatients in conformance with the instruction of the therapist and policies of this department and New England Baptist
Job Description:
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Performs daily clerical/office duties as assigned by inpatient rehab services staff, including but not limited to:
Answering office telephones/Voicemail to field routine questions from patients or hospital staff
Handing off communication to a licensed therapist when necessary
Obtaining daily OR list in order to produce all patient tags for distribution by charge therapist in assigning daily PT/OT caseloads/handling of patient orders called to rehab office and notifies charge therapist of new patient pickups
Utilizes hospital census to confirm all patients with orders have been assigned to a therapist.
Sorts all rehab services incoming and outgoing mail for appropriate distribution to staff. Reorders office supplies, PT/OT paperwork and PAS packets/patient education materials.
Provides support to therapists on patient floors by assisting with non-license required tasks. These tasks include, but are not limited to:
Manual assist during patient treatments
Preparing ice for patients’ post-treatment
Assisting with warm and form brace production/fit once instructed by orthopedic techs.
Provides delegated treatments of routine specific exercises (initiated by therapist in prior treatment) to NEBH patients under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist, or a physical therapist assistant. Completes note in electronic medical record that is dated and timed.
Reports patient response to treatment in a timely manner to the primary therapist. Communicates with RN staff prior to treatment as well as on completion of treatment.
Sanitizes all rehab equipment after patient use in accordance with hospital policy. Stores excess equipment in designated areas throughout patient floors.
Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
- Maintains the daily cleanliness of the rehab services staff office and rehab services storage areas.
Assists with delivery of durable medical equipment (DME) to patients for discharge home when DME company rep is not working. When covering for the orthopedic tech: assists with delivery of orthopedic braces/assists with warm and form brace production/fit once instructed by orthopedic techs.
Utilizes time in a productive manner and able to effectively prioritize patient care and non-patient care responsibilities.
Responsible for reading email, written communications, staff meeting minutes, hospital and applicable Policy and Procedures and other essential work-related communication.

EDUCATION
High School Graduate or Equivalent
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION
Required: Heart Saver
- BLS/ACLS certification requirements are determined by work unit and role.
