Deloitte Innovation & Technology - Quantum Information Lead, Optimization and Machine Learning (Manager) in Boston, Massachusetts

We are currently seeking Quantum Information Specialists with expertise in Combinatorial Optimization and Machine Learning who will work with Deloitte Consulting's offering portfolios and industries to incubate and accelerate the early-stage exploration of the next generation of technology-driven Consulting offerings.

As the Quantum Information Specialist, you will work with the US Quantum team to drive the development of Deloitte's quantum computing solutions and capabilities. You will support strategic discussions to help solve client business challenges and drive their competitive advantage. You will help shape Deloitte's ecosystem, capabilities, and solutions for Quantum Computing technologies across all industries and clients we serve.

Work you'll do

  • Lead the development, design and implementation of optimization models and machine learning models for quantum and classical computers

  • Lead the development of prototypes, proof of concepts and solutions to bring to market

  • Conduct technical research focused on understanding the "art of the possible" for our clients with regards to Quantum Computing

  • Understand technical capabilities of Quantum Computing and support the design of a roadmap for future use of these capabilities

  • Support the technical development and delivery of training programs to educate clients on the basics of quantum computing with hands-on labs, as appropriate

  • Lead the technical development of quantum-enabled solutions across industries and client verticals

  • Work with a remote/virtual, multi-disciplinary global team to support the technical development and advancement of industry point of views, eminence, use cases, and demos

    The Team

Deloitte's Quantum Computing team is an organization within Deloitte Consulting that seeks to understand and expand the art of the possible for today's and tomorrow's quantum computers and quantum technologies. By leverage the hardware and software developed by our partner organizations, we collaborate with quantum computing companies large and small to implement use cases to improve client and Deloitte operations. Our goal is to support the ecosystem, capability and solution development to drive the impact of quantum technologies across all industries and clients we serve.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Master's degree with 7+ years of industry experience

  • Strong understanding of linear algebra, advanced math, operations research, machine learning and quantum information science.

  • Experience with mixed integer linear/nonlinear (discrete, nonconvex) programming models.

  • Ability to mathematically program optimization and machine learning models, gather required data and parameters, understand objectives and constraints, and communicate with business and nontechnical audiences.

  • Proficient in CPLEX/Gurobi or similar commercial/open-source solvers

  • Significant hands-on development experience with quantum SDKs like Qiskit, Pennylane, and/or Ocean.

  • Significant development experience with data science tools including Pytorch, or Tensorflow.

  • Familiar with programming different quantum modalities hardware like gate-based and/or annealer.

  • Experience with conducting advanced algorithmic research for fundamental and/or business applications.

  • Demonstrated experience applying technical capabilities to transform business models, functions and processes.

  • Experience in being a self-starter and individual contributor comfortable operating in a remote/virtual and multi-disciplinary team.

    Preferred:

  • PhD with 3+ years of experience in industry

  • Secret clearance or above

  • Formal education in quantum information science, advanced mathematics and/or operational research

  • Experience with discrete programming/combinational optimization model formulations for industry applications including life science and healthcare, financial services, and manufacturing.

  • Experience with scientific programming and CUDA.

  • Experience with advanced mathematical analysis for data science like topological data analysis and other related techniques.

  • Experience in scientific communication and writing for technical/non-technical audiences.

  • Experience in product development or building proof-of-concept for business applications.

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $151,800-253,000.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
