Massachusetts College of Art & Design invites applications for the position of Human Resources Generalist. Reporting to the Executive Director of Human Resources this position serves as the main point of contact for the complete employment cycle, responsible for talent acquisition, onboarding, benefits administration, open enrollment, retirement and offboarding and human resources information system (HRIS) in accordance with the policies, procedures, and practices of the College and in compliance with all applicable laws and labor contracts.

MassArt is a small-sized employer with approximately 375 full-time FTE, contract, temporary staff, and adjunct faculty.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Executive Director of Human Resources

Location: This full-time position is based in Boston. Currently, HR is working primarily remotely with hybrid remote model anticipated in the future. Employee should be able to work remotely as well as on campus. Please refer to our website for more information on our approach to COVID-19. Currently, masks, social distancing, and mandatory testing are required on campus.

Salary: $55,000 - $70,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Summary of Duties

Serve as a primary contact in matters relating to recruitment and onboarding. Manage functions for the department, approve offers, address concerns or policy matters, review processes and serve as a campus representative in meetings or on committees. Provide training in proper interview methods and may participate on search committees. Liaison with community partners.

Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all organization personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains policy and procedure documents for dissemination.

Prepare and submit quarterly state unemployment and workers? compensation reports and processes claims in accordance with compliance procedures.

Coordinates various benefit programs: Group Insurance Commission plans, dental plans, FSA, FMLA, other related leaves, life and retirement plans in accordance with GIC guidelines, dental administrators, State Retirement Board System and Optional Retirement Program, and state and federal laws.

Performs benefits administration, including change reporting and communicating benefits information to employees, such as open enrollment. Serves as the College liaison to applicable agencies.

Responsible for new employee onboarding/orientation for benefitted employees.

Responsible for recruitment efforts for exempt and nonexempt personnel. Assists with reviewing job descriptions and posts on applicable online sites.

Assists the Executive Director with the design, implementation, technical/functional modifications and enhancements, access, training, and usage of systems administered by Human Resources. Systems include the Human Resources Management System (HRCMS), administration of the position management and recruitment system (NEOGOV).

Assists with development and creation of processes and procedures that support College policies and goals set forth by the Executive Director of Human Resources.

Assists the Executive Director with Human Resources Data Authority responsibilities, controlling access, and partnering with Information Technology on data architecture, the design of data transfer amongst the Human Capital Management systems, and other systems on campus.

Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to continually improve efficiency of the department and services performed.

Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from the Commonwealth's data warehouse.

Assists with compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefits laws and regulations.

Coordinates staff development event programming and professional development online education availability and functionality.

Compiles data for multiple constituencies from sources available within the department, using various software programs and applications.

Maintains and processes all Unemployment Notices of Entitlement in a timely, efficient manner.

Conducts the CORI/SORI background checks, as part of onboarding.

Works collaborative with the payroll department to ensure timely and accurate information is provided as it relates to employee actions.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required in HR or related field with two year?s relevant experience. Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment with confidential/sensitive material and information. Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, handle and follow through on competing assignments, and meet deadlines. Demonstrated experience with applicant tracking recruitment, on-boarding and benefits administration. Must possess strong customer service, organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Strong proficiency with HR/CMS, Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office applications. Ability to collaborate in a team-based environment and interact effectively. Must have flexibility with changing work conditions and assignments. Must possess excellent critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Proven experience and skills to quickly learn new systems and applications. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Collective bargaining agreements (AFSCME, APA, MSCA). Experience with NEOGOV and/or Ellucian Colleague. Bilingual ability to speak, write and read Spanish. SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) and/or HRCI Professional in Human Resources (PHR).
