The Department of Accounting Services provides MassArt with professional and efficient accounting services including general ledger, accounts payable, cash disbursements and budget monitoring. The Accounting Services staff strives to help the MassArt community simplify the financial processing and record keeping requirements while maintaining the rules and regulations of the Internal Revenue Service, U. S. Department of Education, Commonwealth of Massachusetts, GASB (Government Accounting Standards Board), GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Fund Accountant is responsible for the financial management and accounting of College funds and participating in various Accounts Payable and other accounting related duties. Union: APA - Association of Professional Administrators Supervision Exercised: May supervise student employees and junior staff Salary: $45,000 - $60,000, commensurate with experience. For consideration, you MUST apply DIRECTLY to the MassArt Employment Opportunities page: SUMMARY OF DUTIES: * Perform cash disbursements by processing and generating disbursement checks along with bank positive pay authorization. * State Accounting System Reporting & Reconciliation: Reconcile and record state financial expense activity. * Manage College's restricted funds transactions. Accounting and reporting on college grants when required and review foundation reconciliations as well as review federal, state and college financial aid, and scholarship accounts. * Monitor online access to College bank accounts. Produce daily balance reports, manage bank exceptions and review outstanding checks. Reconcile bank accounts to College's ledger. * Assist Accounting Office with Accounts Payable activity, vouchering, filing, vendor support and other general office duties. * Performs other related duties as assigned, special projects. Physical Effort Occasional (10-33%) reaching, pushing, grasping and pulling. Lifting of up to 10 pounds. Frequent (34-66%) standing and walking Constant (67-100%) viewing of computer screen and reports, sitting, repetitive motion, talking and hearing. Requirements: Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting or related field and two to five (2-5) years work experience in a business environment. Knowledge of higher education grant management and experience with enterprise accounting software such as Argos, Ellucian Colleague, and MMARS a plus KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: * Strong accounting and analytical skills * Strong computer and software skills including but not limited to; internet browsers, email, Microsoft Office Suite. * Strong verbal and written communication skills * The ability to work independently as well as diplomatically and effectively with faculty, staff, students, vendors and grantors * Strong organizational skills Additional Information: * Please note MassArt does not provide: * Employment-based visa sponsorship or non-student exchange visitor visa sponsorship. * Reimbursement for travel. * Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check relative to prior criminal convictions and pending cases, as well as Sex Offender Registry Information (SORI) checks relative to prior sexual offenses committed as an adult or juvenile will be conducted on the final candidate prior to an offer of employment.
