Job Description:

We are looking for a highly skilled front-end developer specializing in WordPress to join the corporate marketing team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving our website, ensuring seamless functionality, performance, and user experience.

You should have experience with current and emerging technologies, including PHP, JavaScript, and CSS, to name a few. Additionally, you should be familiar with the PAAS hosting (WP Engine, Platform.sh, Pantheon, Acquia), Linux, Git, and other tools. Experience with WordPress is a must; familiarity and experience with other open-source applications is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement interactive, clear, modern web interfaces that facilitate an intuitive user journey through our website.

  • Develop and maintain the frontend aspects of our website, ensuring high performance and seamless integration with our backend.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, design solutions, and implement new features and functionality.

  • Customize themes and plugins to meet project requirements, ensuring adherence to best practices and industry standards.

  • Translate UI/UX designs and wireframes into high-quality code leveraging modular and scalable components.

  • Make improvements during the build phase – such as addressing accessibility concerns, adding micro-copy and helper text, or throwing in some sizzle and subtle animations.

  • Evaluate and leverage advanced JavaScript/Typescript libraries and frameworks.

  • Optimize websites for speed, SEO, and accessibility, ensuring an exceptional user experience across all devices.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues as they arise, providing timely and effective solutions to meet project deadlines.

  • Build reusable code and libraries for future use.

  • Monitor and solve performance issues.

  • Participate in code reviews.

  • Keep on the pulse of software advances, industry trends, and methodologies to continually innovate and drive efficiencies.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • 3-5 years of professional experience as a front-end/full-stack engineer with a proven track record.

  • Proficiency in WordPress development, both frontend and backend builds, including custom theme and plugin development.

  • Experience with responsive design techniques, cross-browser compatibility, and mobile optimization.

  • Familiarity with SEO best practices and website performance optimization.

  • Experience collaborating with design teams with a basic understanding of web design principles like color, typography, and layout to create user-friendly and visually appealing websites.

  • Adhere to current PHP, HTML5, CSS3 standards and best practices

  • Advanced knowledge of Javascript, including Vanilla JS, jQuery, ReactJS, and NextJS.

  • Knowledge of front-end build tools, such as Yarn, Webpack, NPM, and Grunt.

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively in a remote team environment.

  • Good communication skills and ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • BS/MS in Computer Science.

Location:

  • Based in Boston, MA, with the flexibility to work remotely.

  • Open to other remote U.S. locations.
