Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for two candidates from the Rollover Education Specialist role to join a dynamic team within Personal Investing that will be transforming the U.S. Retail Wealth business with personalized account type and investment recommendations using our John Hancock Investments product offering.

Candidates will gain financial product knowledge and technical expertise and be a part of a team that is critical in providing account type and investment recommendations to customers considering moving their assets to John Investments through our retail broker dealer. These roles are a large part of helping Personal Investing achieve strategic priorities, initiatives, and retention goals. These roles will focus on a variety of topics relating to the entire rollover sales process, including product information, personalized recommendations to end customer, investment illustrations, outbound/inbound communications, the new business onboarding process, and various tools and resources.

Individual Responsibilities:

  • Member of inbound/outbound phone-based team focused on providing investment advice and recommendations to 401(k) participants and helping the participant make good decisions about investing their retirement assets when leaving their employers.

  • Investment advice and recommendations involves discussing the differences, nuances, and advantages of the variety of distribution options and available John Hancock investment products to help participants determine which options may be in their best interest based on an assessment of their unique situation.

  • Offer solutions that are aligned with the participant’s best interest and retirement objectives.

  • Ability to quickly analyze and assess the unique needs of participants, present options, and act accordingly to help participants with their retirement decisions.

  • Become well versed in John Hancock’s 401(k) products as well as John Hancock’s IRA product offerings, which includes the JH Mutual Fund IRA and JH GIFL IRA

  • Become an expert on the various John Hancock investments options and advice and recommendation-based methodologies that are essential to facilitating a successful rollover into the IRA product that best meets the participant’s needs.

  • Assist 401k participants with opening and/or funding of a JH IRA account.

  • Work directly with financial intermediaries and ultimately channel assets into John Hancock

  • Deliver a superior customer experience in a professional manner while assisting participants in their decision-making process.

  • Review the investment line-up of a participant’s current 401(k) and analyze and compare it to the various options within the JH IRA product offerings.

  • Leverage investment tools and methodologies (John Hancock’s portfolio insight tool, suitability, and Risk Tolerance Questionnaire)

  • Expected to achieve monthly activity and productivity targets.

  • Adhere to the highest levels of integrity and professional conduct.

  • Participate in training and coaching development programs designed to enhance skills and provide opportunities for advancement.

  • Share successful education and process improvement ideas in a team environment.

  • Other duties as assigned.

License Requirements:

  • FINRA SIE, Series 6, 63 and 65. FINRA Series 7 and State Insurance Licenses will be required as our product offering expands.

Decision Authorities:

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of IRA’s, 401(k) plans and investments in general.

  • Thorough understanding of the John Hancock story, products, pricing, services, and procedures

  • Good working understanding of 401k & IRA rules and regulations

Salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
