Center For Health Information And Analysis ETL Developer in Boston, Massachusetts

We serve as stewards of Massachusetts health data, employing multifaceted datasets and cutting-edge analytics to promote transparency in our health care system. We are looking to hire a skilled ETL developer to work with the ETL Development team to create new and maintain existing ETL systems.  The developers’ duties will include coding data preparation, analysis, and reporting jobs, performing technical troubleshooting, and providing technical expertise for ETL systems.  The developer will work with multiple database technologies, and scripting languages. They will work with our group and become a critical part of the CHIA team.

The ETL Developer is a key member of CHIA’s software development organization and our Data Operations and Technology team reporting to the Associate Director of Master Data Management and ETL Design. As a member of this team, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Design and implement ETL for extracting and transforming data from diverse sources, including databases and flat files.

  • Learn and work with Gartner Magic Quadrant leading ETL tools; IBM DataStage and Qlik Talend

  • Design and develop required database tables using Snowflake, PostGreSQL, and SQL Server database technologies.

  • Collaborate with Team members to understand source system structures and data retrieval methods/techniques, and tools within the organization.

  • Support the development of data transformation logic using ETL tools or scripting languages like SQL, Bash, Python, etc.

  • Clean, validate, and transform data to conform to target schema and quality standards.

  • Work with the team to execute data quality improvement plans.

  • Participate in troubleshooting activities to maintain data integrity and process efficiency.

    Here are the important qualifications we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.

  • Experience working for a health data organization performing ETL Development activities.

  • Experience with ETL tools such as IBM DataStage or Qlik Talend.

  • Experience with Linux and Windows systems.

  • Experience with Snowflake, PostGreSQL, and SQL Server database technologies.

  • Experience with languages such as SQL and Bash

  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote, hybrid, or in-person work environment.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of SDLC models.

  • Working knowledge and understanding of HIPAA policies and working with PII and PHI sensitive data.

  • Demonstrated success working collaboratively on an IT team with diverse skillsets.

  • Effective at managing competing priorities and can work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Excellent communication skills: verbal and written, along with excellent documentation skills.

  • Ability to stay well organized, detailed and process oriented when under pressure to meet development deadlines.

  • Experience with Microsoft DevOps / Azure preferred.

  • We value the talent and expertise you bring to the table, so we offer a competitive salary range of $105,000 - $115,000 for this position.
