Sonos Electrical Engineering Co-Op, July-December 2025 in Boston, Massachusetts

Sonos is looking for an Electrical Engineering Co-Op to join our Product Development Team to support Analog and Digital development and design. You’ll have the opportunity to have broad engagement across the entire product development organization, with the goal of delivering leading edge audio products for home and beyond. The primary responsibility of the position is to provide hands-on Electrical Engineering support to the Sonos EE Team with a focus on New Product Development.

This role is located on-site at our Boston office

This position is office-based, meaning regular in-person collaboration or use of office equipment is essential to maximize effectiveness for this position. Qualified applicants must live within commuting distance of our Boston office location and should expect to be in office a minimum of 4 days per week.

What You'll Do:

  • Assist in the design and prototyping of analog and digital circuits for audio hardware and other consumer electronic systems.

  • Conduct testing and troubleshooting of electronic components and assemblies.

  • Perform data analysis to evaluate performance metrics and ensure compliance with design specifications.

  • Participate in a multi-disciplinary team, including mechanical engineering, firmware, industrial design, radio engineering, antenna engineering, audio engineering, transducer engineering and project management, to deliver innovative solutions.

  • Support PCB layout and schematic design using industry-standard tools (e.g., Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro).

  • Document findings, processes, and recommendations to improve product reliability and performance.

What You'll Need:

Basic Qualifications

  • AA in Electrical or Computer Engineering, OR Completion of 2+ years (60-70 units) at a 4/5 year university in a similar field while continuing to actively pursue a degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, OR recent EE or CE graduate.

  • Fundamental knowledge of circuit design, signal processing, and embedded systems.

  • Familiarity in using electronic test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and spectrum analyzers.

  • Understanding of simulation and modeling tools (e.g., SPICE, MATLAB or others).

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Passion for audio technology and a desire to learn.

  • This role requires commuting distance to our engineering office in Boston. Qualified candidates are expected to be in our office at least four days a week.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technically inquisitive – must be able to take on new technical challenges, learn new technical skills on-the-fly and apply that knowledge to solve the issue at hand.

  • Well-developed reporting skills (written technical communications), including the ability to summarize complicated issues.

  • Basic understanding of wireless communication protocols (e.g., Wi-Fi, Bluetooth).

  • Familiarity with audio amplifier design.

  • Prior co-op or internship experience in a hardware development role.
