Boston University EDUCATIONAL TRAINING PROGRAM COORDINATOR, School of Medicine, Geriatrics in BOSTON, Massachusetts

Independently organize and coordinate the day-to-day operations of medical student and resident trainees in the Geriatrics Section of the Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine. The individual in this role will work closely with geriatric section faculty and staff to coordinate trainee schedules and provide administrative support as needed.

We are looking for an independent, self-starting individual with exceptional organizational, follow-up, and interpersonal skills to coordinate and administer these activities. It is expected that after an initial training period, this individual will be able to skillfully triage issues that arise and work with autonomy, seeking guidance and direction from the Clerkship Director, Assistant Clerkship Director, and/or Administrative Director when appropriate. The clerkship is a 4-week block, so same tasks re-occur each block.

Organizes, coordinates, and provides administrative direction for the mandatory 4-week rotation in geriatrics for all 160-180 fourth-year BU medical students and up to 40 residents in internal medicine. This includes monthly scheduling of orientation, clinical and didactic schedules, and administering the final exam.

  • Most student blocks are 15 to 18 students. (40%)

  • Participates in the administration, collection, collation and summarization of the evaluations of students every month. Responsible for ensuring that student evaluations are submitted to the registrar on time each month. (25%)

  • Works closely with the Geriatrics Clerkship Director and Assistant Director to ensure that the monthly schedule meets the learning objectives of the Geriatrics Clerkship. Helps to implement curriculum changes (10%)

  • Coordinate speakers and logistics for Geriatric weekly conference series and CME sessions. (10%)

  • Resolves complex scheduling conflicts/changes and troubleshoots sometimes confidential trainee problems within the training program as the first line on a daily basis. (10%)

  • Manage annual events and provide backup support for Fellowship Coordinator. (5%)

Required Skills

Bachelor's degree preferred, with 3-5 years of office experience.
