Director of Paid Media 

Location: Boston MA, Newburyport MA, Denver CO 

(Hybrid: In office Mon-Thurs, Remote – Fri)

We are currently looking for a Director of Paid Media to join our digital marketing team. This role will a key leader and strategic resource for our clients. Our ideal candidate understands how to integrate paid media within the overall marketing mix to deliver against our clients’ business goals. In addition, you should demonstrate an advanced understanding media mix modeling, target audience analysis, analytics, and optimization. 

Media Strategy 

  • Developing Persona and Media consumption strategies. Be a critical part of the team that drives upfront marketing and campaign strategy work, including media planning and insight development. 

  • Leading integrated media programs for a segment of our clients and bringing a superior understanding of the full process, from strategy and buyer journey development to execution and measurement. 

  • Leading the development of strategic, integrated programs across digital, print, radio, television and/or out-of-home that address campaign objectives and deliver business results for clients. 

  • Evolving our Media process, partners and tools to deliver the best experience for the team and clients. 

    Paid Media Programs 

  • Mentoring our team of media experts and collaborating with integrated teams to develop breakthrough ideas and programs for Integrated Media clients. 

  • Managing in-market campaigns to ensure performance, delivery and optimizations with superior results. 

  • Maintaining accountability for team management of program budgets, invoicing and billing reconciliation. 

  • Overseeing and managing paid social team member(s) to support them during their growth path, including strategy oversight, QA of campaigns and projects, and general feedback 

  • Spearheading and/or overseeing the setup, execution, optimizations and reporting for paid social campaigns across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Pinterest 

  • Lead the management of trading platforms/DSPs, e.g., TradeDesk  

  • Working knowledge of SEM and SEO for integration in holistic media plans  

    Lead Generation, ABM, CRM 

  • Manage B2B clients with lead generation tactics as a main goal 

  • Oversee implementation of awareness tactics and content syndication 

  • Working knowledge of CRM platforms for lead integration 

  • Working knowledge of email workflows and best practices  

    New Business + Internal Leadership 

  • Participation in Matter Marketing Leadership Team 

  • Assisting and growing the Matter Paid Media practice 

  • Leading integrated media planning as part of the new business process – the glue that ties the marketing tactics together to meet the client’s objectives. 

  • Proactively presenting new ideas, opportunities, and best practices to agency colleagues and clients. 

  • Helping Matter expand our Integrated Media skill set, including paid programs, targeted ABM strategies, programmatic and other paid opportunities to achieve clients' objectives. 

    Best-in-Class Process + Partners 

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key partners in the media publishing and technology realms. 

  • Researching potential media partners, evaluating opportunities and presenting strategy to clients. 

  • Staying on the lookout for new tools to enhance team processes by auditing and evaluating vendors. 

    Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience 

  • 10+ years media strategy, planning and buying experience across digital/social/mobile, TV, radio, print and/or OOH 

  • Superior marketing strategy skill set with experience working on integrated agency teams. 

  • Superior client services skills 

  • Superior new business acumen 

  • Demonstrated experience driving cutting-edge, complex, integrated program design and implementation with demonstrable ROI 

  • Experience leading clients in both B2B and B2C environments 

  • Experience developing B2B media strategies with ABM expertise a strong plus 

  • Proven ability drafting Points of View, strategic plans and performance reports in a logical format/flow, being sure to detail strategic insights and learnings with clarity and purpose 

  • Curiosity about the ever-changing media landscape, and desire to share latest industry trends and developments with the broader team 

  • Proven team builder with both client and cross-capability teams, clarifying roles and expectations 

  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills (written & verbal)

    Compensation: The pay range for this role is between $110,000-$135,000 based on experience.
