Robert Half Director FP&A - Tech/SaaS REQ (East Coast a must) in Boston, Massachusetts

Description

As the Director of FP& A, you will play a crucial role in developing the FP& A function and driving the company’s financial strategy. This position offers exposure to senior leadership, M& A activity, and the opportunity to lead and build a finance team to support the company’s rapid growth. Join a rapidly scaling Tech company backed by a top PE firm. The organization has a mature infrastructure while continuing to expand through acquisitions and organic growth. With a client base of large public companies and a global presence, the company maintains a dynamic yet close-knit culture that emphasizes teamwork and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the company’s long-term financial planning process, aligning financial objectives with the growth goals set by the private equity firm.

  • Develop and manage detailed financial models to support business forecasting, long-range planning, and scenario analysis.

  • Partner with senior leadership to translate strategic initiatives into financial plans and budgets.

  • Oversee the creation and management of the annual budget, quarterly forecasts, and variance analyses.

  • Ensure rolling forecasts are updated regularly, reflecting the dynamic business environment, especially in the fast-paced tech sector.

  • Provide regular financial reports to the private equity firm and the company's leadership, with a focus on key performance indicators (KPIs).

  • Ensure financial reports are clear, accurate, and actionable to drive business decisions.

  • Track and analyze the company’s financial and operational performance against targets, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.

  • Act as a strategic partner to the CEO, CFO, and other senior executives, helping drive business decisions with data-driven insights.

  • Collaborate closely with department heads (R& D, Sales, Marketing, etc.) to ensure financial strategies align with operational needs.

  • Communicate financial insights in a way that non-financial stakeholders can understand and act upon.

  • Assist in the evaluation of M& A opportunities, including due diligence, valuation modeling, and post-merger integration.

  • Advise on capital allocation strategies, working with private equity partners to maximize shareholder value.

  • Regularly interact with the private equity firm’s investment professionals, providing updates on financial performance, growth initiatives, and potential risks.

  • Be familiar with private equity-specific reporting requirements, including EBITDA tracking, covenant compliance, and exit strategy preparation.

  • Optimize financial systems and processes, ensuring timely, accurate, and scalable reporting.

  • Implement and maintain financial systems (such as ERP systems), ensuring they can support both the current business needs and future growth.

    Requirements

Required Experience:

  • 7-10+ years of progressive finance experience, including FP& A experience at a technology company, 2+ in a leadership role.

  • Previous experience working with or for private equity-backed companies, particularly in fast-growth environments, is required.

  • Be familiar with private equity-specific reporting requirements, including EBITDA tracking, covenant compliance

  • Experience with Private Equity raises, working with analysts etc.

  • Experience in M& A and capital market transactions is often required.

  • Advanced financial modeling and data analysis skills.

  • Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP) and business intelligence tools (e.g., Adaptive Insights).

  • Expertise in GAAP and financial reporting.

  • Strong leadership and team management experience, including leading and mentoring FP& A teams.

  • Ability to influence and work effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience presenting to C-suite executives and private equity investors.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to think strategically and critically.

  • Ability to handle ambiguity in a fast-paced environment, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

  • Understanding of the technology industry, including SaaS, cloud computing, or software development.

  • Familiarity with key metrics relevant to tech companies, such as ARR (Annual Recurring Revenue), customer churn, and LTV (Lifetime Value).

  • Should have aspirations/a lot of career runway to be a potential CFO
