The Director, Actuarial Services will take a leading role in assisting Evolent’s health plan clients with contract negotiations, financial projections, and analyses aimed at improving financial performance. This role will involve supporting client strategic decision making as well as monitoring ongoing operations. As a Director, you will work with other actuaries and actuarial students to forecast performance, generate actionable insights, and identify key result drivers.

Responsibilities

  • Interacting and coaching teams of actuaries and non-actuaries

  • Role interacts with internal operations, Evolent clients, as well as actuarial consultants

  • Leading actuarial analysis and services in support of claims analysis, financial projections, and pricing/product strategy.

  • Balancing growth and profitability goals to maximum results

  • Assisting with and participating in negotiations and presentations where appropriate

  • Managing organizational risk through forecasting of financial/statistical data in a manner which is actuarially sound

  • Incorporating organizational expectations for the financial impacts of clinical integration, population management processes, provider contracts, and benefit structures into rates and financial projections

  • Supporting development of provider fee schedules, capitation rates, gain sharing programs, and other contractual arrangements

  • Managing unpaid claims reserves and forecasting future medical expense trends

  • Presenting reports and analyses to clients and internal executives

  • Partnering with sales team to support proposals

The Experience You'll Need:

  • B.S. in Actuarial Science, Math, Economics or related degree.

  • ASA , FSA designation preferred

  • 5+ years of experience in a health actuarial setting

  • Experience with Medicare, Medicaid and/or ACO strongly preferred

  • Strong verbal and written skills are required

  • Strong technical skills required in Microsoft office

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills. Must be comfortable presenting complex analyses to internal and external client executives

  • Collaborative working style with the ability to work across different organizations and personalities

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, adapt to change, work well under pressure in an entrepreneurial environment, and manage a project from start to finish

Technical requirements:

Currently, Evolent employees work remotely across all 50 states temporarily due to COVID-19. As such, we require that all employees have the following technical capability at their home: High speed internet over 10 MBPS and, specifically for all call center employees, the ability to plug in directly to the home internet router. These at-home technical requirements are subject to change with any scheduled re-opening of our office locations.

The typical range of employees within the compensation grade of this position is . Salaries are determined by the skill set required for the position and commensurate with experience and may vary above and below the stated amounts.
