The Director, Program Management Office will aid in leading the Global Information Security (GIS) Program Management Office and its goals of designing, building, and governing the semi regulatory government requirements for Marriott’s cybersecurity programs. This includes the change management, communications, and education of Marriott Associates of these regulatory commitments and their role in achieving and maintaining them. Another key area is continuous process improvement and reporting automation to become more agile and efficient. This role also will also require active leadership and participation in regular audits for compliance and evidence of that compliance.

There will also be the program management of medium-sized or supporting of large-scale functional and cross-functional initiatives that require coordination across the globe, business disciples and Information Technology. Responsible for establishing program level governance for those initiatives, management of program status, risks, issues, dependencies and reporting across all teams. Ensures program success by engaging project management teams to implement program structures and oversight. Ensures project and program compliance with Marriott internal EPMD standards and tools for program delivery.


Education and Experience


  • 8+ years’ relevant work experience in complex programs demonstrating:

  • Managing direct reports or resources in matrixed organizations

  • Project or program expertise

  • Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts and drive direction/focus

  • 2+ years’ experience developing and executing strategic IT plans and/or project portfolios

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience/certification.

Preferred Experience:

  • Project management certification and experience

  • Regulatory, compliance and audit experience

  • Ability to accomplish results through others, particularly by establishing relationships and effective controls

  • Strong analytical skills for planning, estimating, budgeting and monitoring program/project work.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex ideas in easy-to-understand business terms to stakeholders at all levels of the organization

  • Experience in successful Change Management that brings the organization and stakeholders to a place of understanding and adoption

  • Experience with business process improvement and re-engineering.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of cybersecurity

  • Strong process management, negotiating, influencing, mediation and problem resolution skills.

  • Ability to accomplish results through others, particularly by establishing relationships, effective controls and partnering in a managed service environment.

  • Experience in executing multi-year plans.

  • Understanding of large global organizations

  • Experience or familiarity with tools such as JIRA, ServiceNow, Clarity, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint

  • Agile/SAFe knowledge/experience

  • Graduate degree


Program Management

  • Defines and manages portfolio of projects linked to regulatory commitments needed for compliance

  • Supports VP in modeling and planning for monitoring and metrics and reporting for compliance efforts for regulatory commitments

  • Ensures large strategic programs align to regulatory policies and processes.

  • Accountable for ensuring that IT teams define and meet execution strategy for regulatory compliance on existing and new technologies in scope of commitments

  • Supports the VP in analytics and reporting as well as stakeholder and executive decks

Financial, Contract and Risk Management

  • Provides input to partners to develop budgets

  • Partners with other IT groups to provide financial transparency to discipline partners

  • Manages technology roadmaps to guide solutions along a common path as well as retirement or migration of lesser-used or expensive to maintain technologies.

  • Aligns with Security and Privacy to validate that processes are followed to protect and secure customer and/or associate data

  • Engages with Vendor Relations to develop service agreements with external companies on behalf of the discipline

Leadership Accountabilities

  • Leads cross functional programs and drives teams to achieving goals

  • Mentors and coaches program team members as appropriate

  • Actively drives maturity of IT operating model (i.e. participation in Communities of Practices) and continuous improvement

  • Serves as escalation for leads, project managers, if required.

Managing Work, Projects, and Policies

  • Coordinates and implements work and projects as assigned.

  • Complies with Federal and State laws applying to procedures.

  • Generates and provides accurate and timely results in the form of reports, presentations, etc.

  • Analyzes information and evaluates results to choose the best solution and solve problems.

  • Manages the flow of questions and directs questions.

Supporting Operations


  • Works with team to put sustainable work processes and systems in place that support the execution of the strategy.

  • Establishes and maintains complete and up-to-date information to ensure accurate reporting.

  • Represents team in resolving situations.

  • Maintains and manages inventory and service operations.
