JVS Boston Digital Literacy Instructor in Boston, Massachusetts

Summary: Under the direction of their Supervisor, the Computer Instructor develops and modifies contextualized curriculum and daily lesson plans for courses, delivers classes to participants, evaluates the progress of individual students on a scheduled basis, tracks outcomes, creates documents for submission to their Supervisor, funders or evaluators, and attends strategic meetings with the Employer Engagement Incumbent Division team. Essential Job Functions Employers: Meet employer partner goals and outcomes, as well as establish, track and meet program dashboard indicators (employee retention and satisfaction, employer partner satisfaction) Establish relationships with key employer staff and work collaboratively in a structured and on-going manner Assist with planning and implementation of changes in the program, curriculum, or instruction Assist with planning and implementation of the Celebration of Achievement ceremonies Collaborate and communicate regularly with their Supervisor to ensure smooth delivery of services Track outcomes and create reports for funders and or evaluators Students/Classroom: Meet program goals and outcomes, as well as establish, track and meet program dashboard indicators (attendance, retention, skill attainment (progress), student satisfaction. Develop and modify curriculum based on the needs of both the students and the employer. Submit a course description at the beginning of each cycle which outlines the topics to be covered in the class. Incorporate organizational and workplace materials into the curriculum. Develop daily lesson plans. Create emergency lesson plans and submit these plans to their Manager at the beginning of each active cycle. Deliver all subject matter outlined in the curriculum with the goal of ensuring that students obtain the predetermined outcomes (skills). Be flexible to individual learning styles and set appropriate limits to ensure all students have an equal opportunity to learn. Assist students in areas of difficulty and provide additional assignments for students who will benefit from extra work. Assign, edit and correct student work in a timely and ongoing basis. Evaluate student progress on a regular basis. Provide students with feedback regarding performance in class and any obstacles that may be impeding progress. Administrative/Communication: Communicate with their supervisor as directed for attendance and enrollment (may vary from site to site). Communicate with their supervisor regarding any concerns that may impact the student?s progress in the classroom. Assist with completing final reports for all classes as directed (may vary from site to site). Employer Engagement Incumbent Worker Services Team: Support the mission and philosophy of JVS Work collaboratively with and encourage collaboration between team members to ensure performance goals for the Incumbent Worker Services Divisions are met. Attend and actively participate in staff meetings and team-based projects. Provide assistance to fellow team members when needed or when course load is below established minimums. Perform other duties as requested. Knowledge/Skills/Experience: 2 or more years of teaching experience with adults preferred Knowledge of adult learning theory Interpersonal, communication and organizational skills Strong written and oral communication skills Presentation and facilitation skills Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with a diverse group of clients at all levels of the organization Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
