State of Massachusetts Dental Investigator - Contractor in Boston, Massachusetts
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health’s (DPH) Bureau of Health Professions Licensure (BHPL) is comprised of the twenty-one Boards of Registration and Certification and the Drug Control Program and Prescription Monitoring Program. The BHPL is seeking a detailed oriented individual to investigate allegations against dentists, dental hygienists, and dental assistants. The Dental Investigator reviews complaints, documents, and pertinent information concerning alleged violations of laws, statutes, rules and regulations. The Investigator obtains evidence and establishes facts concerning the complaints and determines if there is noncompliance with laws, rules, and regulations, and confers with parties to complaints as part of the investigatory process. The Investigator also conducts interviews, prepares reports, presents case findings to the board, and testifies at hearings when required. To be successful in the role, candidates should possess exceptional organizational skills, strong computer skills for data analysis, strong writing skills and strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills. _Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and are not all inclusive):_ * Completes Staff Assignment investigations by obtaining evidence and establishing facts concerning alleged non-compliance with laws, rules and regulations by interviewing individuals to determine extent of non-compliance, validity of complaints and to prepare evidence or information for appropriate action. * Documents non-compliance with Dental Board regulations/statutes and monitors licensee’s correction of the identified deficiencies. * Verifies information requested to establish accuracy and authenticity of facts. * Verifies and updates licensing information for all assigned cases. * Writes investigation reports and prepares all relevant evidence, radiographs, imaging and attachments to the report for presentation to the dental board members. * Performs related duties as assigned. _Preferred Qualifications:_ * At least 10 years of experience in the field of dentistry. * Experience and/or familiarity with administrative law and procedures. * Thorough knowledge and understanding of investigative procedures. * Ability to gather information by interviewing and observing individuals, and by examining dental records and documents. * Knowledge of the methods of general report writing, and the ability to prepare reports. * Proficiency in with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and other agency-specific database programs. * Capacity to write concisely to express thoughts clearly and to develop ideas in logical sequence. * Ability to accurately record information provided verbally. * Skilled at using investigative techniques to obtain information. * Able to assemble items of information in accordance with established procedures. * Capacity to maintain accurate records. * Capable to proofread work product. Salary placement is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate’s years of directly related experience and education, and alignment with our internal compensation structure as set forth by the Human Resources Division’s Hiring Guidelines.
