State of Massachusetts Communications Coordinator in Boston, Massachusetts

The Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS) seeks a dynamic storyteller and content creator to join the Communications team to fill the role of Communication Coordinator. This is a key communications role that directly supports the Secretary of Health and Human Services and works in collaboration with the Governor’s Office. The ideal candidate is skilled in a wide range of communications, including using multimedia tools to create content aimed at reaching a diverse and wide range of audiences and constituencies. The Communications Coordinator reports to the Director of Administration and Communications who leads a high-performance team that also includes a Media Relations Manager and a Communications Manager. The team partners across the EOHHS secretariat daily, collaborating cross-functionally with legislative affairs, program managers, agency communications leads, and working groups focused on critical issues, such as fast-moving public health crises and proactive strategies (e.g., violence prevention). If you are interested in helping drive EOHHS’ mission as the Digital Communications Manager, please apply! _Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all-inclusive):_ The ideal candidate will exhibit a high level of ownership of day-to-day tasks, projects, and deliverables for content areas including the following: Digital, Web, and social media content: * Actively manage EOHHS's social media presence and create digital content across channels (e.g., Twitter), including executing integrated campaigns * Create static and motion graphic content on multiple platforms * Develop video content; incorporate the use of creative programs like Canva * Partner with agencies on social media campaigns; function as a subject matter expert by offering coaching and input or ideas to support their efforts * Monitor and update EOHHS presence on Mass.GOV (Drupal platform) * Serve as an advisor/consultant to our 12 agencies in the development of new pages and/or special programs and campaigns. General communications: * Develop content for agency internal and external communications including but not limited to newsletters, mass emails, brochures, flyers, event invitations, speeches, scripts, annual reports, press releases, social media, and web content. * Oversee content production management for mass.gov/EHS. * Develop a web content strategy that encompasses the goals of the Executive Office of Health and Human Services. * Use target keywords to write search-engine copy that is optimized for search engines (SEO) while remaining entertaining, informative, and accessible. * Ensure continuous quality improvement loop for all department web pages; respond to user feedback on lower-performing content and re-imagining the structure, flow, and quality of that content in a way that quantifiably improves the user experience. * Perform other duties as required. _Required Qualifications:_ * Excellent written, oral, and digital communication skills. * Ability to multitask and work collaboratively with a variety of teams and stakeholders * Strategic marketing/advertising knowledge and knowledge of social media and SEO. * Knowledge of search engine optimization techniques and standards of accessibility for screen readers. * Ability to work in an extremely fast-paced environment, responding to daily communications requests and competing deadlines regarding a wide variety of topics and priorities. * Ability to think creatively, analytically, and work proficiently * Knowledge and experience using content management systems. * Ability to deal tactfully, maintain a harmonious working relationship with others, and establish rapport with persons from different ethnic, cultural, and/or economic backgrounds. _Preferred Qualifications:_ * Seeks, and is comfortable receiving, feedback - particularly receiving edits to written communications – and can continue to move the project and deliverable forward with the benefit of constructive criticism * Comfortable and productive working at all levels of the organization, can hold their own with senior executives, and build trusting and productive relationships with peers at EOHHS, its agencies, and partner organizations * Direct experience in health care and/or human services and an interest in health care and human services * Experience with Drupal * Experience creating multimedia content, including video and graphics, with experience with programs like Canva * Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience. /Please be prepared to provide samples of your professional work./ _About the Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS):_ The Executive Office of Health and Human Services (EOHHS) oversees expenditures of over $22 billion annually, and as the largest Secretariat of the Commonwealth, employs over 20,000 employees and provides direct services to 1 in 4 Massachusetts residents.
