This position can sit in our Chicago, Dallas, Austin, Houston, Tampa, Miami, Boston, New York, Washington, Palo Alto, San Francisco, San Diego, Los Angeles, or Seattle offices.

The Marketing department is a highly collaborative team of professionals who work closely with practice groups and sectors to build the reputation of our lawyers.

The team works with firm leaders to create and execute a strategy that addresses DLA Piper’s business goals. We also measure business efforts to identify the most strategic focus for our lawyers’ efforts.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Marketing, Communication, Journalism or related field

  • 5 years’ related experience in marketing, public relations or similar field

  • Detail-oriented self-starter with strong writing, organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Team player that possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills with a positive customer service attitude

  • Ability to assess priority and handle a variety of projects and assignments at one time in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Requirements:

  • Knowledge of the law firm environment/industry

What will your day look like?

As a Communications Coordinator, you support the Senior Client Communications Manager with external firm publications, including client alerts, newsletters, practice and sector-related guides and handbooks, blog content and other materials. This will entail tasks such as editing, proofreading, receiving lawyer approvals, maintaining a calendar of publications as needed and beginning the process of disseminating final publications.

You will also assist the Supports Senior Communications Managers with editorial submissions. This will include activities such as researching, writing, editing, obtaining approval of and submitting entries for individual lawyers, practice and firm accolades with newspapers, legal and business trades.

Additionally, you will develop and maintain the calendar of client publications and editorial submissions, as well as monitor deadlines and keep pipelines apprised of/on pace with upcoming deadlines. You will also support the analysis of results and communication of results internally and externally.
