The Critical Care, Anesthesia, Perioperative, Extension (CAPE) and Home Ventilation Program is a unique team of clinicians, respiratory therapist, and social worker with the goal of improving the quality of life of children who need long-term ventilator assistance at home. The CAPE Program designs individual care plans for each child with complex medical needs and helps coordinate care with primary care providers, surgical specialties, home care nursing, medical equipment companies, and other community services.
This CAPE Research Mental Health Social Worker will be responsible for:
Delivering a Tele-Mental Health psycho-education intervention for parents enrolled in a research study through the Critical Care, Anesthesia and Perioperative Extension (CAPE) program.
Administration of an hour-long psych-education intervention by video-teleconferencing to study participants, in Spanish or in English.
Participating in training according to research study protocols.
Providing flexible patient intervention sessions within a week of enrollment into the research study, and take part in a weekly supervisory session.
Follow up with patients to facilitate continued participation in the study and taking part in provision of necessary documentation following research protocols.
To qualify, you must have:
A Master's degree in Social Work.
LCSW in the state of MA is required, LICSW is preferred.
Cognitive ability to observe, analyze and interpret general and technical data, (verbal and written) accurately.
Strong communication and interpersonal relationship skills with the ability to respond to events effectively. Interest in working with multicultural patients with complex needs.
Ability to follow research protocols and procedures.
Bilingual English-Spanish preferred, as patients will be Spanish or English speaking Latinos.

Night and weekend availability is required, to provide flexible patient sessions within a week of enrollment into the study to meet time requirements of the research protocol and patient’s needs.
