Center for Government Insights Intern - Health Research Specialist (Fall 2024)

Position summary

We're looking for an intellectually curious and enthusiastic health research intern who is eager to learn and grow within our Deloitte Center for Government Insights (DCGI) team's internship program. As an intern, you'll be assigned to our government health research team and spend the fall and spring semester developing new skills, working with diverse groups of professionals, and gaining first-hand exposure to the processes and methods we utilize in developing our research projects to deploy our thought leadership and events to our clients and the broader Government and Public Services community. You'll get to know other interns who share similar goals, attend company-hosted events, meet staff members in other departments, and network with people in your field of interest.

This is an ideal position for graduate students interested in careers in public health, health care, or health policy. Research topics span across health care and life sciences, and may include health care innovation, payment systems, advanced health technology and data, emergency preparedness and response, public health transformation, mental health, or health equity.

The team The Deloitte Center for Government Insights produces groundbreaking research to help government solve its most complex problems. Through forums and immersive workshops, we engage with public officials on a journey of positive transformation, crystallizing insights to help them understand trends, overcome constraints, and expand the limits of what is possible. Work you'll do As an intern, you'll participate in trainings, networking events, and community activities to enhance your internship experience. During your internship you'll:

  • Be assigned a balanced workload within the Center for Government Insights' health research portfolio.

  • Work closely with our research team on literature reviews and background research, data collection, analysis and synthesis of multiple data sources to identify key themes and gaps, and developing research reports.

  • Learn our thought leadership deployment protocols including orchestrating industry speaking events, sponsorships, and internal conferences related to key industry clients.

  • Use your exceptional organizational skills to help manage timelines and work with diverse groups of professionals.

    Qualifications Required:

  • Candidate for a Master's degree in Public Health, Public Policy, or a related field

  • Prior work experience in public health, health care, or academic research setting

  • Demonstrated research experience in public health, health policy, health care and/or life sciences

  • Availability to participate full-time in an 8-week internship

  • Ability to travel 0-10%, on average, based on the work you do and the industries/sectors you serve

  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available

  • Candidates must be at least 18 years of age at the time of employment.

    Preferred:

  • Strong academic track record (minimum 3.2 GPA)

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team in a fast-paced environment

  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and leadership potential

  • Professional demeanor and exceptional communication skills, both written and oral

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and internet research tools (PubMed, Google Scholar)

  • Solid understanding of US health care system

  • Superior time and project management skills

  • Familiarity with or willing to learn Zotero reference software

  • Located in Rosslyn, Boston, or Washington D.C. (must be able to work in EST)
