Title: Career Technical Vocational DirectorGeneral Description: Founded in 1647, Boston Public Schools (BPS) is the oldest public school district in the country. With approximately 56,000 students from over 114 different countries, nearly 9,000 employees (including 5,000 teachers) and an annual budget of $829 million, the BPS is the largest school district in Massachusetts and is one of the most diverse as well. BPS has been recognized as one of the top urban school districts in the United Students and was recently awarded the Broad Prize for Urban Education as the most improved urban school district in the nation. Madison Park Technical Vocational High School is the only technical vocational high School in the City Of Boston. We have 27 programs of study. All technical-vocational students focus on a career major with the intention of entering a career and post-secondary program of study. The Career Technical Vocational Program Director will assist with the implementation of the integration of academic and vocational programs Reports to: Head of Schools Responsibilities: Is responsible for the procurement and maintenance of all Vocational equipment In conjunction with Office of Career Technical Vocational Education. Ensures all safety procedures, curriculum, tasks, competencies and regulations as designated by Chapter 74 regulations in collaboration with the Office of Career Technical Vocational Education. Creates and sustains a climate that motivates students and staff members to excel in their selected technical vocational programs Researches and supports professional development opportunities for technical vocational staff and monitors Professional Development requirements Meets on a regular basis with Office of Career Technical Vocational Education in order to keep lines of communication fluid. Participates in assessment and placement of students in vocational programs Monitors and analyzes the performance and progress of students in all academic courses Performs other responsibilities as designated by the Head of Schools or Career Technical-Vocational Coordinator QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Director of Vocational Education Certification Three (3) years urban teaching/administrative experience in a vocational setting Master’s degree plus thirty (30) graduate semester hours. Within the Master’s or supplementary to it (9) hours in educational administration/supervision courses Experience in establishing and maintaining a multicultural community of learning. Demonstrated knowledge of the Chapter 74 regulations and federal, state and/or local grant- funding process requirements. Demonstrated knowledge of creating and facilitating, business, college, and community partnership. Terms: BASAS, Group 10B, 211 days Please refer to the Salary Compensation section on the Career Site for more information on compensation. Salaries are listed by Union and Grade/Step. The start and end times of BPS schools vary, as do the lengths of the school day. Some BPS schools have a longer school day through the "Schedule A" Expanded Learning Time (ELT) agreement.
