WTW Business Analyst 3 in Boston, Massachusetts
The Role
As a Business Analyst 3 working with systems, data, and the client, you will serve a key role for our outsourcing benefits business by serving as the link between consultants, clients and our system developers. You will contribute to the implementation of new services and ongoing administration by translating business needs into actionable programming and process steps for developers, practicing the fundamentals of systems analysis, design and testing. You will also consult with clients on best practices, provide technical support, and train client teams.
Note that this role will involve some travel to client sites and other Willis Towers Watson offices.
A Few Select Responsibilities:
Clients
Ensure that all documentation starts from baseline and adheres to standards; communicate back to base team suggestions for changes or enhancements to standard documentation
Responsible for system configuration and table updates via SQL
Has a solid understanding how the application is expected to work for a particular client and partners with the internal team to determine the best course of action to resolve issues
Perform the system testing process for more complex requirements, defines test scenarios, develops comprehensive test plans and determines the best course of action to resolve issues by understanding how the application is expected to function for a particular client
Gather requirements and document changes requested by the client.
Maintain and update all requirements documents when changes occur, ensuring adherence to standards
Translate complex client business requirements into functional and technical specification documents using standard templates where applicable
Translate more complex client business requirements (e.g., more complex features and solutions) into functional and technical specification documents using standard templates where applicable
Beginning to consult clients on non-standard change requests and system best practices
Train clients on use of new tools and approaches and system changes related to change orders
Financials
Support client change requests by providing detail and accurate budget estimates to project manager regarding system requirements necessary to implement client change requests
Understand Statement of Work (SOW) and be responsible for communicating any work that is requested by the client and is out of scope to the Project Manager for change order identification and review.
Responsible for developing requirements documentation and system configuration based on client requirements
People
Provide training on large-scale change orders to internal team and service center, as needed
Serve as a role model for junior members of staff and promotes best practices and department policies
Responsible for peer review of configuration updates made by more junior team members
Excellence
Identify process improvement initiatives, researches best practices and communicates findings to community
Work closely with Developer to ensure project requirements and requests for changes are understood and within standards
Follows the System Development Lifecycle
Understands full testing cycle, including regression testing.
Proficient understanding and consistent usage of our internal test planning tool
Execute all test scenarios within a test plan, report and assist in remediating any issues identified
Able to perform medium to complex data queries and analyzes results using applicable querying tools (SQL, Excel) and knowledge of the application’s database structure; digs beneath the surface and tests the validity of information
Perform the system testing process for more complex requirements, defines test scenarios, develops comprehensive test plans with minimal oversight
Proficient understanding and consistent usage of our internal test planning tool
Possesses the ability to fully regression test
Responsible for peer review and sign-off of test plans to ensure completeness and accuracy
Ability to own and come up to speed on new components or functionality with minimal guidance

3-5 years’ experience as a Business Analyst
Understanding of the fundamentals of health and welfare and broader benefit plan design preferred
Ability to complete Willis Towers Watson Business Analyst training program
Intermediate to advanced SQL skills
Experience with relational databases. SQL preferred
Experience with test plan creation, testing procedures and test plan execution
Strong analytical, integrative and problem solving skills
Solid interpersonal skills and client service orientation
Ability to work both independently and on client teams, including virtual work teams with members in different geographic regions
Strong organizational abilities and flexibility to work in a performance driven environment managing multiple project priorities
Sense of accountability, owning one’s work and taking pride in it; commitment to quality and continuous improvement
Ability to travel and work extended hours as needed
Compensation and Benefits
Base salary range and benefits information for this position are being included in accordance with
requirements of various state/local pay transparency legislation. Please note that salaries may vary for
different individuals in the same role based on several factors, including but not limited to location of the
role, individual competencies, education/professional certifications, qualifications/experience, performance
in the role and potential for revenue generation (Producer roles only).
Compensation
The base salary compensation range being offered for this role is $82,000 - $95,000. This role is also eligible for an annual short-term incentive bonus
