SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The Building Mechanic Technician II will be responsible for the repair, replacement, and modification of building elements and equipment including but not limited to items such as door locks and hardware, wall partitions, cubicle partitions, and furniture, to ensure continued Museum operations and a safe, comfortable and pleasing environment for our staff and visitors. Responsible for preventative maintenance procedures and corrective repairs on Museum owned equipment. Responds to visitor and staff requests, building management system alarms, and completing daily rounds of the critical building infrastructure.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
750,000 square feet of museum property, consisting of 7 multi-purpose buildings including a 5 level parking garage, Planetarium, Omni Theater, two theaters and four animal living areas.
Regularly works on several projects (3 - 4) simultaneously.
Available for Emergencies 24 x 7 x 365
Be on call 24 hours a day to ensure continuous operation of facility systems.
May be required to work weekends, holidays and overtime as requested by management. .
WORK SCHEDULE:
This position is full-time, 40 hours/week, Tuesday - Saturday
REPORTS TO:
Manager, Facilities
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Post high school course work, technical degree, associate's degree, business or vocational certificate.
5 or more years of in facilities maintenance, construction or vocational training experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of painting, general facility maintenance and basic carpentry.
Working knowledge in the use of hand tools and power tools.
Ability to troubleshoot problems, document issues, suggest and implement corrective action.
Working knowledge in the use of or the ability to learn Electronic Work Order Systems.
Working knowledge in the use of or the ability to learn Building Management Systems.
Must have attention to detail and maintain all work in a clean and organized fashion.
Effectively able to communicate - written & verbal.
Ability to continuously establish and maintain proper record keeping, inventory, and accountability.
STARTING SALARY:
Non-Exempt (Hourly). $28.56 / hr
